Miss Alabama Defends Musburger
by

Last night, during the BCS championship game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Notre Dame, veteran sportscaster Brent Musburger drew viewers’ attention to Crimson Tide QB A.J. McCarron’s girlfriend, Katherine Webb who happens to be Miss Alabama.

Musburger said, “Wow! I’m telling you. You quarterbacks, you get all the good-looking women. So if you’re a youngster in Alabama, start getting a football and throw it around the backyard with Pops! What a beautiful woman. Wow.”

For his candor, Musburger has been called “creepy”.

Today, ESPN issued a mealy-mouthed apology for Musburger’s remarks.

For what? Acknowledging that Webb is indeed a beautiful woman. Musburger isn’t the first to describe Webb in this manner and he certainly won’t be the last.

And yes, quarterbacks end up with beautiful women. Talk to Tom Brady about that subject.

For Webb’s part, she has no problem with Musburger and came to his defense. Webb stated, “It was kind of nice. I didn’t look at it as creepy at all. For a woman to be called beautiful, I don’t see how that’s an issue.”

Very well said. Katherine Webb is both beautiful and level headed.

BTW, the Crimson Tide won the BCS championship 42-14.
