Trump Lies About Orlando Terrorist Being “Born in Afghan”
by

In the wake of the Orlando terrorist attack, Jeff Lord claims that with regard to radical Islam, Donald Trump is the “man who has gotten this exactly right.”

But if Donald Trump is “exactly right” then why does he need to lie about where Orlando terrorist Omar Mateen’s place of birth? Here is what Trump said yesterday:

The killer, whose name I will not use, or ever say, was born in Afghan, of Afghan parents, who immigrated to the United States.

Aside from the fact that Afghan isn’t a country, Omar Mateen was born in New York City.

This fact had been established well before Trump’s speech. Which again brings us to the question of why Trump lied about his place of birth.

The answer is obvious. To justify his proposed Muslim immigration and travel ban, of course. That Mateen and, for that matter, San Bernardino terrorist Syed Farook were born in this country inconveniences that narrative. The same could be said of Fort Hood terrorist Nidal Malik Hasan. But since when does Trump let the truth get in the way of an argument?

But that wasn’t the most interesting part of Trump’s speech:

The immigration laws of the United States give the president powers to suspend entry into the country of any class of persons.

Yet that question is being adjudicated by the Supreme Court as we speak. Texas and numerous other states challenged President Obama’s authority to unilaterally give amnesty to illegal aliens. As such, Trump has a vested interest in the Supreme Court ruling in Obama’s favor. Because if Obama has the authority to unilaterally give amnesty then Trump would have unilateral authority to ban Muslim immigration.

But if Trump were to implement such a ban, it would be useless against American born Muslims who have turned to jihad.
