The Left and the Social Democrats in both Europe and America have one thing in common: they know nothing of human nature. You know: Everyone is good. All criminals can be reintegrated. All borders are bad. And every multicultural melting pot is enriching.
But there’s a problem: It’s not true. Not all cultures are equal. Nor is everyone good. Which is why we need locks on our cars and houses, passwords on bank accounts, and border controls around our lands. Even if the contemporary Left believes that the only threat to their brave new world is capitalism and my huge diesel car, the truth is that there are, for example, a lot of guys who wake up every day intent on killing as many Westerners as they can in the name of Allah, in New York, in Madrid, in Paris, or this past Sunday in Liverpool. And unfortunately, they are much more fervent believers in their Islamist madness than most of our leaders in their own moral heritage.
The EU has been at war with Poland for months because it considers its government incompatible with “European values.”
As I write, thousands of migrants from Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, and Africa are gathered on the Belarus–Poland border. They have been transported there as part of a plan laid out by Vladimir Putin and President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, acting as the “in” Islamist travel agency. Through chain messages on WhatsApp and social networks, these migrants have been lured to their current situation under the promise that they will be able to enter the European Union and even, in many cases, that they will find a job there, which besides being a lie strikes me as a bad joke. I am writing from Spain, where youth unemployment is at 42 percent and we have a cretin in the Government telling us that he is going to spend our money to stop global warming.
Poland has reacted by condemning the attack and has closed off and militarized its border. They are not ready for an Islamic invasion — the umpteenth — orchestrated by Europe’s enemies and tolerated by a cowardly European Union.
No one is surprised that Lukashenko should try for revenge against the EU over the sanctions received for his fraudulent electoral process. Nor is it surprising that Putin can be seen behind a new operation to destabilize the continent. That is to be expected. We are familiar with them. What never ceases to surprise us is the attitude in Brussels. The bureaucrats in European social democracy are falling between two stools: on the one hand, their policy is Agenda 2030, multiculturalism, and the dissolution of Old Europe’s identity with anything that erases its Christian heritage, starting with Muslim immigration; on the other hand, none of the member countries of the European Union, in full post-pandemic crisis, fancies taking on another invasion of immigrants right now, so timid voices of support for the firm attitude of the Poles can be heard. They are so timid, however, that even at mainstream conservative party rallies they are impossible to hear on stage, although they are often heard in the audience. Only one country in Europe has offered Poland military assistance to repel the aggression, and it is no longer part of the Union: Great Britain. The question is imminent: whose side is the EU on? Moreover, if the EU does not defend the interests and security of its citizens, what do we want it for, given how expensive its institutions are?
I read in the press that, several days after the beginning of the crisis, the EU is considering sanctioning airlines and travel agencies involved in the transport of people to Belarus with the intention of crossing into Poland. Someone should tell the dinosaurs in Brussels that the migrants are already at the border, that sanctioning airlines judging the intentions of their passengers is as stupid as it is complicated to execute, and that what Poland needs is a unanimous response from the European Union defending their doorstep — ours also — with the military.
Poland’s stance is courageous and risky. Courageous because it is alone. Risky because Lukashenko is itching for war, and threatening daily, armed response to make the Poles move. Poland’s reaction has been to send in the tanks. And Putin, who is very much like that lady who can be spotted at every family wedding but no one knows who she is or who invited her, has sent several bombers to the border, in case the dance starts.
And then there is the context. Less than a month ago, the EU Court of Justice decided to fine Poland one million euros per day because the Poles refused to dissolve the newly created disciplinary chamber of their Supreme Court, as ordered by the European Commission, on the grounds that it infringed on their judicial independence. Regardless of the merits of the dispute, Poland refused to comply with a European legal mandate that collided with its own Supreme Court, considering that this meant, de facto, the renunciation of its sovereignty.
The EU has been at war with Poland for months because it considers its government incompatible with “European values.” But a clarification is necessary: when Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, speaks of “European values,” she is not referring to the values of the Old Europe of Christian humanism, but to those of the new Europe built in Brussels by the bureaucrats who admire Agenda 2030, the fight against climate change, the destruction of the family, and the promotion of Islam.
In other words, and to be even clearer: what really irritates the EU sheiks is that Poland made headlines a year ago for the 100-plus municipalities that proclaimed themselves “LGTB ideology-free zones,” with the support of the Government. To be even clearer: what irritates the European Commission bureaucrats is that only a few months ago Poland banned abortion in the case of fetal malformation, which represented the vast majority of cases. What irritates the EU is that Poland, along with Hungary, is one of the only two countries that have dared to stand up to Big Tech, creating a law that defends users against ideological censorship on platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. At the end of the day, Poland is doing everything that Brussels, whose highest political aspiration is that Greta Thunberg speak in the European Parliament, is supposed to be doing.
Thus, this border crisis is much more than a migration problem. In fact, it’s comical that the pro-green press considers this an emergency and a refugee crisis. There is no emergency except the one Putin wanted to provoke. And there is no refugee crisis because these immigrants have not come fleeing war, but have been attracted by a wonderful — and nonexistent — job opportunity.
Poland is resisting in the midst of a growing national fervor, and in spite of Poland’s own far-left who want to discredit their fellow citizens by denouncing some sort of collective far-right madness. There is no such thing. There is only one nation defending its sovereignty with pride, defending its culture, and willing to fight for the things that once, centuries ago, made Old Europe great and that are now fading.
If Poland falls, if Poland gives in to the pressure of European social democracy and the multicultural nonsense of the Left, the whole West will follow, from Brussels, Madrid and Rome, to Washington. And Putin, Lukashenko, and Xi Jinping will have won the most important battle of our century. Fortunately, I have the feeling that St. John Paul II, a man well versed in tearing down walls that dehumanize and deprive man of his freedom, will not allow his land to fall.
