The Tampa Bay Times — formerly the St. Petersburg Times — bills itself as FLORIDA’S BEST NEWSPAPER. You can’t miss it. It’s on the top banner of page 1A every day. A stranger to humility is our Times.

What the Times actually is, its elephantine opinion of itself notwithstanding, is one of the most relentlessly leftist newspapers in the county, by editorial policy as well as by news selection and placement. If it weren’t for that other leftist news-letter out of Manhattan (New York, not Kansas) going under the name of Times, it might be the most leftist morning rag.

Monday’s number provided us just one shocking example of the Times’ twisted news priorities. By placement, accompanying art, and column inches, the continuing assassinations of American police officers by racist fanatics was deemed by FLORIDA’S FINEST NEWSPAPER to be the third-most important story of the day after Florida Governor Rick Scott being included in the speakers lineup in Cleveland this week, and a story on the problems caused for St. Petersburg’s sewage treatment system by heavy summer rains.

I’m not making this up. For 50 cents you can read it and weep yourself. Shame on the editors of the Tampa Bay Times.
