Internships
The American Spectator takes pride in its history of providing aspiring writers with the opportunity to launch a successful career in journalism. Internships here don't involve sorting mail or making copies, but rather researching, reporting, and writing. Most interns graduate from the program with a number of clips to their name, in addition to valuable experience working with our editors and writers. In recent years, Spectator interns have gone on to work for such publications as National Review, The Jacksonville Daily News, First Things, Defining Ideas, The Washington Examiner, and many other outlets, including the Spectator.
While there are no requirements, it is highly recommended that applicants have experience writing for a college newspaper, a stellar GPA (preferably above 3.0), a sense of history, and a sense of humor. Both full-time and part-time internships are available.

A complete application should include a résumé, 3 writing samples, 300-500 word essay on what you hope to gain through an internship with AmSpec, and contact information for your professional references.
