Hensarling Out of Leadership Race

By on 6.12.14 | 11:42AM

So often it seems that the people most interested in positions of power are the ones we should least want there. The other side of the coin is demonstrated today by Jeb Hensarling, whom I had suggested (in my article about Eric Cantor's defeat) might be a candidate to replace Cantor as Majority Leader. Today, Hensarling said that he will not seek that leadership position.

According to The Hill, "'Although I am humbled by the calls, emails, and conversations from my colleagues encouraging me to return to leadership for the remainder of the 113th Congress, I will not be a candidate for Majority Leader next week,' he said. 'After prayerful reflection, I have come to the conclusion that this is not the right office at the right time for me and my family.'”
