Red Sox Lose Four in a Row

By on 5.19.14 | 12:29AM

The Boston Red Sox have lost four games in a row. The losing streak began on Thursday in Minneapolis and they have now been swept at Fenway by the Detroit Tigers, who get sweet revenge for last year's ALCS.

OK, a four-game losing streak is nothing out of the ordinary. However, the 2013 World Series champions never lost more than three games in a row last season. This isn't the same team from a year ago. They sorely miss Jacoby Ellsbury in the lead-off spot and apart from Big Papi, the rest of the team's offensive output has been lackluster.

The Red Sox’ one saving grace is that they are in the AL East. Despite a 20-23 record, they are only three games back of the Yankees. If they were in the AL Central, they would be 7 1/2 games back of the Tigers.

Although there is plenty of season left, I still don't think the Red Sox will have another World Series parade down Boylston Street this year.
