Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson and Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper were named AL and NL MVPs.
It is the first MVP award for both players.
Donaldson was acquired by the Blue Jays in an off-season trade with the Oakland A's which sent Brett Lawrie out west. It could prove to be one of the most lopsided trades of the century. Donaldson hit .297 with 41 HR and a league leading 123 RBIs as well as league leading 122 runs scored. All these numbers proved to be career highs. Donaldson led the Blue Jays to their first post-season appearance since 1993. He also becomes the first Jay to win the AL MVP since George Bell did so in 1987.
