Maya Angelou, R.I.P.

Maya Angelou passed away this morning at the age of 86. Her cause of death is unknown, but she became ill last month which caused her to cancel several appearances.
Indeed, she was due to be honored by Major League Baseball this Friday with a "Beacon of Life" Award in Houston prior to the annual Civil Rights Game between the Houston Astros and the Baltimore Orioles, but bowed out due to the state of her health.
Angelou could probably be best described as a Renaissance woman. Standing six feet tall, she danced with Alvin Ailey, sang Calypso music, organized for Martin Luther King, Jr., appeared in the TV mini-series Roots, read a poem at Bill Clinton's first Inauguration. Of course, this doesn't cover all the books she wrote.
Yes, she was a hardcore lefty who supported Fidel Castro, but she also supported the Second Amendment.
With that, I'll give her the last word.
