Who Wants a Super Bowl Ticket? Anyone? Anyone?

Can you believe that the Super Bowl isn’t sold out?

With kickoff for Super Bowl XLVIII between the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks less than 48 hours away there are between 15,000 and 18,000 unsold tickets for the game which is being played at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Sure most hotels in New York and New Jersey cost an arm and a leg (although I can tell you of one hotel in Midtown Manhattan that will cost you less than $150 a night). But fans aren’t exactly going to be clamoring to stay in a hotel if it’s getting mail with white powder. Fortunately, it turned out to be corn starch. But when you consider what happened at the Boston Marathon last April there are people who are leery of being in proximity of a venue which is prime target for terrorism.

I know Broncos fans are used to the cold, but most fans don’t want to sit in freezing February weather for four hours. Now if the Patriots or the Packers had made it I don’t think there would be a seat to be had.

Of course, that’s assuming you can get to the game. Who wants to be stuck in a traffic jam on a New Jersey bridge?

So does anybody want a Super Bowl ticket? As our own Ben Stein would ask, “Anyone? Anyone?”
