Obama: “I’m Not a Particularly Ideological Person.”

A couple of days ago, I counted the ways why I disliked President Obama following his recent interview with David Remnick of The New Yorker. In the interview, he attributed some of his unpopularity to racism.

Dishonesty and disingenuousness are unbecoming a President and here’s another example from the same interview. Remnick follows Obama to a Democratic Party fundraiser at the home of former Microsoft President Jon Shirley near Seattle. He told donors, “I’m not a particularly ideological person.” He also went on to say, “There are reasonable conservatives and there are those who just want to burn down the house.” By reasonable, Obama means any conservative who will do his bidding and any conservative who doesn’t is an arsonist. Obama claims Republicans are ideological and that he isn’t.

For President Obama to say he isn’t ideological is akin to saying Miley Cyrus doesn’t like sticking out her tongue. Any President whose administration presided over a government take over of the health care system, directed the IRS to target conservative organizations, opposes the expansion of the Keystone Pipeline and focuses on income equality and redistribution is ideologically driven. Anyone who was mentored by Frank Marshall Davis, Reverend Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers is ideologically driven and the ideology in question is socialism.

In another section of the article, Remnick writes:

He is convinced that an essential component of diplomacy is the public recognition of historical facts – not only the taking of American hostages in Iran, in 1979, but also the American role in the overthrow of Mohammed Mossadegh, the democratically elected Prime Minister of Iran, in 1953.

Anyone who equates the taking of American hostages to the overthrow of Mossadegh is ideologically driven. This is Noam Chomsky territory. Although I find Chomsky’s views abhorrent, at least he is honest enough to admit he is a socialist. The same cannot be said for President Obama.
