Who says we can't cut waste from our budget? If you haven't read about Super Twiggy the cartoon squirrel yet, you should. The House couldn't even cut $3 million for U.S. walnut promotion.
Now we find out that our federal government is buying penis pumps through Medicare.
Not only are we subsidizing the confidence of American men; we're doing it for a 100 percent premium.
The federal government paid more than double the retail price for VES, the Department of Health and Human Services IG found. Medicare prices for the systems, the report said, “remain grossly excessive compared with the amounts that non-Medicare payers pay.”
Medicare paid 473,620 VES claims during calendar years 2006 through 2011, according to the IG report.
Health care policy experts said the revelations in the IG report are a troubling indication of what they describe as wasteful spending in federal health programs.
The feds paid more than $175 million for those pumps, or "vacuum erection systems."
When did penis size become an issue of the common good? I'm sure President Teddy Roosevelt would be rightly appalled. If we really want to boost our testerone levels, we should have invaded Syria!
Thank goodness Congress is going to replace the sequester. The feds will continue to stimulate this national resource, remaining ahead of any stiff foreign competition.
