Boycott A&E?

If it walks like a Stalinist…

The Stalinists have terrorized the A&E network.

The “A&E” standing for “Arts and Entertainment” — an industry that depends on free speech for its very existence. No irony there.

In case you just returned from deepest Siberia, last night word broke that the network has suspended Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson for the politically incorrect interview he gave to GQ. Among things he opined that in his view “bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men” is a sin.

Note: contrary to the headlines, he did not compare being gay to bestiality. He rattled off a list of things he thought a sin. One of them, note again, involved heterosexual men who are “sleeping around with this woman and that woman.”

Right on cue the American Chapter of Stalinists — this time it’s the GLAAD division — instantly jumped in to defend heterosexual men and defend our right to sleep with “this woman and that woman.” Hats off to GLAAD for….oh…oops…sorry. GLAAD didn’t give a rats rear end about defending heterosexual men from Phil Robertson’s anti-heterosexual playboy rant.

Stalinism being extremely selective as to who gets defended and who does not, GLAAD was only offended for gays.

One can laugh…and at this point this kind of thing is so ridiculous one can only laugh…but in fact GLAAD has established a reputation for this kind of terroristic behavior. They have become a threat to the very free society that has in turn provided “gay rights”. On their website GLAAD put the screws to A&E, demanding in that wonderful Animal Farm-style language that A&E “reexamine their ties to someone with such public disdain for LGBT people and families."

Simultaneously GLAAD, without a hint of irony, acknowledged that the people of the state of Louisiana had passed a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. Which is to say, GLAAD has zero respect for free speech and the right of free people to decide for themselves issues of any kind, marriage equality be damned.

Christmas is here and there will be plenty of time to examine this anti-free speech crusade by bigots disguised as “gay rights” activists.

But in the meantime, perhaps it’s time to give these people a taste of their own medicine — in this case boycotting A&E until Mr. Robertson is un-suspended. This isn’t North Korea, and frankly I don’t care whether the person at the center of one of these Stalinist show-trials is named Phil Robertson, Alec Baldwin, Martin Bashir, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Lou Dobbs or anyone else. The First Amendment is perfectly plain…and for a reason. Yes, a company has a right to fire an employee. Yes, there is a right to protest. But by now this kind of thing is vividly associated with intimidation, the tactics of the lynch mob.

Case in point?

Last night on Megyn Kelly’s show, former Bill Clinton pollster Bernard Whitman delivered what can only be described as a vile and threatening diatribe, spewing hatred against those who have religious beliefs different from his own. It was classic intolerance of the left . Should Mr. Whitman, who officiously pronounced that he was gay and Jewish (who cares?), be suspended from appearances on Fox News? Absolutely not. That’s what free speech is all about.

Mr. Whitman, since he has raised the subject, is a pluperfect example of liberal hypocrisy. A former pollster for Bill Clinton — that would be the Bill Clinton who signed the Defense of Marriage Act that forbade legal recognition of gay marriage — Whitman publicly allied himself with the most prominent anti-gay marriage figure in the day: the Democrat who as president of the United States tied to make gay marriage illegal forever . Who…hello?…was Whitman’s polling client. Which is to say: Ol’ Bernard was on the Clinton payroll. Why launch on Bill for his signed-on-the-dotted-line-into-law opposition to gay marriage when he’s paying the bill?

Well aside from the selective liberal outrage that apparently depends on who is paying the bill, there is the convenience of just who is the target. Mr. Whitman is a staunch Obama defender, yet no outrage from Whitman about Mr. Obama’s constant reaching out to the Muslim Brotherhood, whose views on homosexuality make Phil Robertson look like a piker. And oh by the way....the Pope agrees with Phil....but are GLAAD and Bernard Whitman going after Time magazine for making the Pope Man of the Year?

Will the Duck Dynasty audience go to the mat for Phil Robertson? We shall see.
