Marcia Wallace, R.I.P.

Actress Marcia Wallace passed away after a long battle with cancer on Friday. She was a week shy of her 71st birthday.

Wallace rose to fame in the 1970's when she was cast as receptionist Carol Kester on The Bob Newhart Show. During this time, Wallace also became a fixture on game shows such as The Match Game, Hollywood Squares and The $25,000 Pyramid.

For more than two decades, Wallace has been the voice of teacher Edna Krabappel on The Simpsons.

However, when I think of Wallace I immediately think of her guest spot on Taxi in which she played herself and was set up on a blind date with Reverend Jim Ignatowski (played by the inimitable Christopher Lloyd). I wish I could find video of it online.

So instead, I leave you with Wallace getting a standing ovation on The Match Game after she finally made a match with a contestant.
