New Home for Science on the Web

By on 5.8.13 | 10:30AM

Goodness knows why, but I was reading our former paper of record on Monday when I came across a short piece on the subject of Nautilus, a new web magazine about science. Its first issue is devoted to a question in which everyone ought to be interested: why do we, members of a species that is only between 200,000 and 50,000--the date depends among other things upon whether we're talking about anatomy or patterns of human behavior--years old, think we're so darn special?

According to the Times, funding for Nautilus comes from the Templeton Foundation, the outfit behind, among other things, the publication of books such as Mary Eberstadt's How the West Really Lost God, which I'm reviewing for our next print edition. Many thanks to Templeton, then, and the best of luck to John Steele and the folks at Nautilus.
