Newt Gingrich rolled out his "All American Energy Plan" at CPAC earlier which a colleague in attendance described as less than entirely coherent. Hints running up to the talk were that it would be ex temp, so I suppose it was.
I heard his thinking aloud in arriving at this tag, in a private forum, though my emphases on "energy that works" only prompted repeated bounce-backs of "American energy".
Here's the problem. American energy can be asinine, too.
Being American doesn't protect ethanol from that reality any more than it did the politicians who created its support scheme. Canadian petroleum is far smarter than American corn squeezins.
And Newt now touts ethanol. The same analysis applies to windmill and solar panel boondoggles which he now has no logical room not to tout once Candidate Newt starts spending more time in Iowa where, by cynical coincidence, the wind and solar rent-seekers are also spending a lot more time, and money.
'All' as in all of the above draws no line to exclude the idiotic. As such, it is.
So for now just don't forget what Newt was pushing not so long ago.
