On the heels of the global warming industry's success in fending off Prop 23, keeping California's inane renewable agenda in place, today we are treated to the latest in a long series of examples how politicians can pass whatever absurd mandate they can politically get away with passing; the stuff they mandate their constituents use, however, will be made elsewhere, where the cost of manufacturing isn't burdened by such stupid mandates (cue stories about stimulus green-doggle dollars going to China). No matter what their rent-seeking partners promise.
"A California wind-turbine company is moving its headquarters and manufacturing to Kansas City, promising to have about 200 employees by 2016. The company, Nordic Windpower USA, is moving from Berkeley to facilities near Kansas City International Airport and intends to make a $16 million investment here.
Missouri is chipping in $5.6 million in ientives, including grants, job-training assistance and sales-tax exemptions for purchased equipment.
"I am pleased that we are able to authorize this strategic incentive package for Nordic Windpower, and we look forward to working with the company to create hundreds of jobs here in the Show-Me State," said Gov. Jay Nixon, who was in Kansas City on Tuesday to make the announcement."
Looting the public purse to pay for the privilege of ...orchestrating a coming, costly bust. "Nordic is going after the community wind market - such as schools and municipal utilities that want to generate at least some of their own power." If, by now, the parallels with The Music Man or Simpsons' 'Monorail' take-off aren't obvious...set up shop, sell your scam (pass AB 32...fight Prop 23), and clear out. Wash, rinse, repeat.
And, if history is any guide, Show Me Staters can guess what's coming. In which case, might as well just get the 'office space to let' sign ready at Nordic's new digs, now.
