I predicted earlier this week that neither of the Cleveland Browns' recently departed quarterbacks would be starters in the NFL this coming season. I'm not ready to revise that prediction, but the chances for both Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson have gotten better.
Quinn was traded to the Denver Broncos earlier this week. Now Anderson has agreed to terms with the Kurt Warner-less Arizona Cardinals. Neither team seems to be completely locked into forcing their newly acquired QBs into backup roles. So that means all Quinn would have to do is win a quarterback competition with Kyle Orton and Anderson would have to beat out Matt Leinart -- a somewhat tougher assignment for Quinn than Anderson, but not inconceivable in either case. I'd still bet on Orton and Leinart, but after getting out of Cleveland Quinn and Anderson are both pretty hungry.
