Obamaphones. Teleprompters. Big Gulps.

Sarah Palin hit all the laugh lines in her speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Saturday afternoon, bringing the audience to its feet perhaps a half-dozen times. At points, Palin simply jumped between one-liners.

On proposals for gun control: “More background checks? Dandy idea, Mr. President. Shoulda started with yours.”

On the president’s permanent campaign: “Mr. President, we admit it — you won. Accept it. Now step away from the teleprompter and do your job!”

On advice to college Republicans: “You gotta be thinkin’ Sam Adams, not drinkin’ Sam Adams.”

At one point, the former Alaska governor pulled a Big Gulp soda out from under the podium and began sipping on it, to raucous applause, a joke at the expense of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s ban on oversized beverages.

Palin preached — to a responsive congregation — a message of faith in conservative values and the American heartland. She blasted the capitol’s “cocktail parties of power” and put political consultants on the chopping block. “The last thing we need is Washington, D.C., vetting our candidates,” she said, slyly dinging Karl Rove’s new “Conservative Victory Project,” which intends to be a moderating influence in GOP primaries.

“We’re not here to dedicate ourselves to new talking points coming from D.C. We’re not here to put a fresh coat of rhetorical paint on our party,” she said. “We’re here to restore America, and the rest is just theatrics.”

Sen. Ted Cruz, who helped introduce Palin before her speech, seemed to defend her political relevancy by noting her early support for Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Tim Scott, Pat Toomey and Nikki Haley — and her role in promoting his own candidacy.

“Let me tell you something,” Cruz said. “I would not be in the U.S. Senate today if it were not for Governor Sarah Palin.”

It is a shame what was done to Sarah by the MSM and the so called comedians with their sick jokes, such as the weasels Letterman, Stewart, Maher. What is worse is how few Reps stood up for Sarah.

Joellen| 3.16.13 @ 7:48PM

Governor Palin is beautiful, intelligent, Feminine, funny, and PRO LIFE.

That is why the leftist hate her!

I had a bumper sticker on my car (till it was stolen)

"DONT BLAME ME I VOTED FOR SARAH PALIN".

I cant wait to do so in the futre.

C. Vernon Crisler | 3.16.13 @ 8:28PM

I watched the speech this morning and thought it was one of the best since her Palin-McCain convention speech. Now she's added a lot more humor and sounded Reaganesque.

I wish she were running in 2016. I'd love to see her tell Karl Rove in her own inimitable way what he should go do with himself.

mishal762| 3.16.13 @ 8:30PM

Its definitely the most-financially rewarding Ive ever done. Make money with Google. I started this five months/ago and immediately started making a cool at least $78 per-hour. And whats awesome is Im working from home so I get more time with my kids. I follow this great link

Sarah is beautiful, I'll give you that. But who she trying to fool, women that drink 32oz Big Gulps don't have asses as sweet as her's.

Gary B| 3.16.13 @ 11:24PM

Have you noticed the cracks starting to appear in the old guard GOP edifice? Bricks are starting to drop out of their rear ends, as momentum builds against them. The precipitating event? Rand Paul's filibuster. He was brilliant.

AlanAnti-RoveCheneyBrooks | 3.17.13 @ 9:06AM

"Have you noticed the cracks starting to appear in the old guard GOP edifice?"

Now you are getting somewhere, Gar. If you run a Palin, you'll do better than with an old fart such as Bob Dole or the guy who was tortured by Charlie in Hanoi. The GOP is the most erratic party around: you elect Eisenhower, then less than two decades later, Ford; then you strike it big with Reagan-- but seven yrs. after he leaves office you nominate Dole. Five yrs. later you elect a president who outspends FDR, LBJ and Carter rolled into one.
ERRATIC.

The Only Good Democrat| 3.17.13 @ 10:36AM

You have Obama all over your hands. I'd wash soon.

Von Mises Jr| 3.17.13 @ 11:20AM

Sarah was hilarious. She said Obama wants gun legislation to increase background checks, and too bad it didn't happen in 2008. She told Rover to go back to TX and run himself if he is so damn smart. She conceded that Obama won it is about time he start the job. She bought Todd a rifle for Christmas and he got her a rack for the ATV. So he has the gun and she has the rack.
She is not only a Happy Warrior, she is funny. Letterman, Stewart and Maher are not. Humor always contains a bit of truth, while the liberals jokes are devoid of truth and packed with anger.

CJW| 3.17.13 @ 3:04PM

Ted Cruz was brilliant. Cuban father and Irish mom, and a Supreme Court law clerk, he will be president.
We have good canidates for 2016 with Paul Ryan, Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Kelly Ayotte, John Kasich, and others.
The Dems have the dummy Biden, Benghazi Mrs Bubba, and now Michelle of 17 Vacations.

vtwin| 3.18.13 @ 11:16AM

They have to be better than this list of losers from 2012; Bachmann, Cain, Gingrich, Huntsman, Paul, Pawlenty, Perry, Romney, Santorum.

Quartermaster| 3.18.13 @ 12:50PM

Oh Puhleeeeeze! No Rubio, Ayotte, Kasich or any other RINOs (Rubio stepped in a very deep pile with immigration). Bush was more than enuff.

GobBluthe| 3.18.13 @ 11:17PM

If she had never signed a moronic ethics law that brought down her governorship and served out her first term, she would be a serious person.

Occam's Tool| 3.16.13 @ 2:51PM

I'd cheerfully donate to her campaign and support her for President in 2016.

I think she could DESTROY Hillary in a debate. Hillary is not bright.

7-08| 3.16.13 @ 7:43PM

As would I, as I have in the past.

CJW| 3.16.13 @ 8:41PM

Hillary looks awful. Don't think she will run in 2016, if she does, she will lose.

Crassus| 3.16.13 @ 11:03PM

Hillary's liver will give out by 2016. David Crosby's is probably in better shape than hers.

mike 3/505| 3.17.13 @ 2:50PM

MY liver is probably in better shape...and I am an admitted, nay proud drunk!

CJW| 3.17.13 @ 3:05PM

Welcome back, Colonel. We missed you.

Been armpit deep in dealing with the bureaucracy....more to follow once I get it all tidied up. In any case...it's a great day to be an American Paratrooper.

GobBluthe| 3.18.13 @ 11:18PM

Sher would destroy Hillary in a debate. And Hillary would win the election anyway

RJ| 3.16.13 @ 3:11PM

Its always a joy to listen to Sarah Palin. There is no one like her; She's an American treasure. Keep it going, Sarah.

CJW - You are right. The MSM attack on Sarah was and is disgusting. We must never forget it and stand up for Sarah and other conservatives, like Ted Cruz, who come under MSM attack for defending our values.

crankitup| 3.16.13 @ 3:55PM

Thanks Governor Palin you are a True American and a good woman. You learned your lesson well, stay strong and stay clear of the mc cains, the roves, the media and DC elites.

Li'l Jen| 3.16.13 @ 5:36PM

It is because of Sarah Palin that I know how the left really feels about women.

C Bowen | 3.16.13 @ 6:59PM

I am not a supporter of Sarah Palin as President, but it remains curious, criminally curious, that she was not invited to speak at the Republican National Convention last Summer.

Romney was such a hack.

Anthony| 3.16.13 @ 8:22PM

This woman is magnificant. She singelhandedly almost saved John McLame from his pathetic campaign, despite the POS Steve Schmidt.
The damage is deep however. I make it a point to ask women of all political persuasions about Gov. Palin, and I'm afraid the MSM did what it intended to do, destroy her with the left and RINOs.
She would most certainly kick Hillary's fat ass all across this nation, and Moochelle's fat ass as well if she were to be part of the D "dream ticket".
What a F'n joke the left are.
I will ALWAYS support Gov. Palin, despite the crap I take here from troll Arnie and others, no matter what she decides to do. She is a true patriot.

CJW| 3.16.13 @ 8:44PM

I remember McCain on Letterman when L asked McCain what he thought of Palin. McCain rolled his eyes, but then quickly recovered and said the right platitudes. But his body language with the eyes showed what he thought. Still he selected her, but he, and the rest of his campaign, did not defend and support her.
She is smart and gutsy.

RJ| 3.17.13 @ 1:41AM

McCain made many mistakes in his 2008 campaign, but choosing Sarah Palin as his VP nominee was not one of them. The McCain campaign didn't do her any favors at the time, but the two times the spot-light was on her were the only two times McCain was ahead in the polls. I wish she had more governmental experience, but she was an authentic candidate and much better than the other three candidates on the ballot.

mike 3/505| 3.18.13 @ 2:58PM

I wish she had more governmental experience, but she was an authentic candidate and much better than the other three candidates on the ballot.

She had more direct, governing experience than the other three on the ticket(s) combined. She was the only one who had held two, count them TWO elected, executive positions. Being the Chief Executive of a town, or a state, is hugely different and much more akin to being President, than is being a legislator.

RJ| 3.18.13 @ 11:47PM

Yes, but I still would have liked for Sarah Palin to have more than 2 years experience as Governor. Nonetheless, she was (and is) much more qualified that Obama and Biden. With 30 Governors, the GOP should have some good, tested candidates to answer the call in 2016.

Jake| 3.16.13 @ 9:21PM

Perhaps I saw a different speech or should I say performance art from Palin than the rest of you obviously wearing your rose colored glasses.
Palin acted like she wanted to be ridiculed.
Not a single thing she did or said today is going to bring others to conservatism.
In fact, her schtick will repel voters.
Her Hootchie Mama act is old.
Her props are childish.
She set women , conservatives and Republicans back decades today.
President and Mrs Reagan always..always..behaved with class and dignity .
Being a conservative today apparently means dressing like a tart, making tacky jokes about
your rack and making a straw X -rated.
Stick a fork in it-conservatism is dead.
Palin helped kill it.

Suzyqpie| 3.17.13 @ 10:34AM

Pres 0bama dancing with Ellen Degeneres on her afternoon talk show was a nice display of Presidential dignity. Exceeded in folly only by the skeet shooting picture.

C. Vernon Crisler | 3.17.13 @ 11:39AM

I disagree. It's precisely her commitment to conservative principle rather than expediency, and her sense of humor, that will attract people and win over both conservatives and independents. That was Ronald Reagan's modus operandi, too.

Lance DeBoyle| 3.17.13 @ 12:25PM

Pull the stick out Jake, Sarah is the real thing.

Controse| 3.18.13 @ 1:55AM

When you hate Gov. Palin and everything she has accomplished and stands for you're bound to find nothing but reinforcement for that hate in everything she does and says. Speakers at CPAC are there to rally the troops, not to convert the lost and loathsome to conservatism. It is your sick, hate filled mind that turns drinking soda through a straw into an X-rated act. You hate Gov. Palin. We get it.

Jardino| 3.16.13 @ 10:31PM

Sarah Palin is the Kim Khardashian of the conservative entertainment media.

Crassus| 3.16.13 @ 11:06PM

Junior, you can't even spell "Kardashian" correctly. Go on back to HuffPo where you belong. You can take ole Jake with you.

Founders1791| 3.17.13 @ 2:54AM

Well played!

Seek| 3.19.13 @ 12:48PM

Sarah Palin not only talks like a high school mean girl, with that telltale smarmy, sing-songy, lowbrow sarcsasm, she also drinks the same drinks. She's not a serious candidate. If nominated, she'll drive our party off a cliff.

Founders1791| 3.17.13 @ 2:31AM

The Lame Stream Media and Ruling Political Class has hardly tarnished Governor Palin's image because here we are 5 years after her ascent to the national stage and she proves 24-7-365 that her insights, verve, and pure Americanism is truly unique and refreshing while simultaneously frightening to liberal socialist democrats who fear another Ronald Reagan will destroy their hard fought gains for generations to come.
---------------
Sarah Palin is a a real life walking Norman Rockwell Painting that lives the life depicted which her detractors simply can't measure up to, and that realization pains them so much they seek comfort in projecting that hurt onto the most inconsequential detail of "her" life.
---------------

Arnie| 3.17.13 @ 8:27AM

Guys,

Coulter, Rush, Beck, and Palin are not serious people. They're basically operating on the level of game show hosts and morning disc jockeys. They're entertainers in it strictly for the money. Palin will not be running for political office. She makes more money from speaking tours.

chuck| 3.17.13 @ 9:14AM

Don't you have a jack-boot to lick, Euro-weinie?

Arnie| 3.17.13 @ 10:45AM

Sarah Palin said Washington is like bad reality TV. I guess she would know.

Anthony| 3.17.13 @ 12:57PM

As usual, Gov Palin is spot on. Ted Kennedy, Bill Clinton, Durbin, Schumer, Franken, the Congressional Black Caucus, truly these D hacks are the worst of bad reality TV, Arnie.
Feinstein's constitutional bona fides for gun control consist of serving 20 years in the senate, having seen dead bodies in San Fran (sadly, not enough) and sticking her fingers in bullet holes of dead bodies. Is this woman truly this demented?
Then we have our joke of the day V.P. Biteme, who asks a grieving father of a fallen hero of Benghazi, who was left to die by Obozo and Hillary, " did your son always have balls the size of cue balls?"
Had that been me, and that was my son, I would have punched that son of a bitch so hard in the mouth, those huge false choppers of his would have ended up in the Atlantic.
Ten years in a federal prison would have been worth it.
So Arnie, these are the people you are so proud of, eh??

Anthony| 3.17.13 @ 8:02PM

It's 8:00 pm, do you know where your troll Arnie is?

Controse| 3.18.13 @ 2:01AM

Yeah. What's with sticking your fingers in bullet holes? Is this some hushed up San Francisco sexual foreplay that she let slip out? San Fran being San Fran I'll bet there is an ordnance to cover bullet hole fingering.

Von Mises Jr| 3.17.13 @ 11:24AM

Hey Arsie is getting some time-and-a-half at MoveOn. He must have not suffered from the Chicken Little "The sky is falling" Sequester.

CJW| 3.17.13 @ 3:06PM

Troll alert, purpie trolling as arnie.

The Only Good Democrat| 3.17.13 @ 10:33AM

This is where you are taking us Arnie.

http://www.reuters.com/article.....3I20130317

Arnie| 3.17.13 @ 10:50AM

Not. Have you noticed that the only countries in Europe that have got bailouts are on the Euro? It's because they can't devalue their own currency. The US is in control of it's own currency, unlike Cyprus.

Other than that, this situation is like DC sending stimulus money to Idaho. So what?

I admit Europe messed up with the euro. They made a common currency without a common economic policy, nor one central bank in charge of interest rates.

The Only Good Democrat| 3.17.13 @ 11:47AM

I was thinking of the mindless spending. Progressives pay kickbacks to their political friends and think something good is happening. Wherever that happens disaster will follow. The big benefits of Washington spending ring the city. It becomes diffuse as you get farther and farther away. With respect to the Euro is was always a disaster since it depends on Northern Europeans supporting Southern Europeans. This much like American tax payers trying to prop up our incompetently run cities. The left always hopes that corruptly running things at a higher level will solve their problems. By the way, besides Detroit there are quite a few localities in the good old USA that are in trouble. The feds can just print money. This delays the inevitable but morons like yourself think that kicking the can down the road is a cure. The fruits of progressivism are coming home to roost all over the world.

The Only Good Democrat| 3.17.13 @ 11:53AM

http://www.businessinsider.com.....der-2013-3
This should be laid at the feet of American progressives. False promises and corrupt government lead to the same place whether it is Detroit, Chicago, Mexico or Greece. Europe bought itself some extra time by hiding behind the US military. That is going to change as well. Good luck.

C. Vernon Crisler | 3.17.13 @ 11:46AM

There is some small bit of truth in what you are saying Arnie. Coulter, Rush, and Beck cannot be taken as seriously as we would take political figures who can impose their views on others by force. Coulter, Rush, and Beck are, after all, entertainers and they would no doubt admit that there words don't have the same gravitas as they would if coming from say a Churchill or a Reagan.

However, Sarah is in a different category. She IS a political figure, and therefore what she says is taken much more seriously than what conservative entertainers and pundits might say. That is why the Left hates her so much. Her words have consequences.

Mike W| 3.17.13 @ 10:36AM

Ann Coulter was better. She said what needed to be said about immigration. Amnesty of the illegals is the end of the GOP and the USA. There is no more important issue, yet there are scores of GOP pundits that are pushing it.

Dimitry_Aleksandrovich| 3.17.13 @ 4:09PM

What does Sarah Palin really have to offer except for slogans and looks? There is no real conservative movement anymore at least not one based on sound political theory and conservative thought. What do the conservatives of today wish to conserve except for the Wall Street Oligarchy and the Military Industrial Complex? Or does being conservative in this day in age simply boil down to being Pro-Life, Pro-Gun, Pro-Corporatism and Pro-Militarism. I am most definitely Pro-Life and Pro-2nd Amendment but I do not believe a conservative should be automatically Pro-International Corporations and Pro-Military Adventurism.

Controse| 3.18.13 @ 2:04AM

So capitalism just doesn't do it for you anymore, eh?

Dimitry_Aleksandrovich| 3.18.13 @ 11:54AM

I am an American born Orthodox Christian who strongly supports the American Constitution. No I am not a pure capitalist but that is besides the point. Global corporate monopolies are arguably not traditional American capitalism. They are global conglomerates that wish to subjugate America's economic sovereignty to international bodies like the UN and endless free trade agreements. The backbone of American capitalism has always been competition (which almost doesn't exist anymore except for a few exceptions) and we have a situation in America where large corporations are driving small American business owners out of business purposely so they can corner entire markets. The Republican Party is just as "Big Government"as the Democratic Party they just want to see the big government privatized and handed over to "Big Corporations".

Dimitry_Aleksandrovich| 3.18.13 @ 11:55AM

I didn't mean to write the "UN" I meant to write "WTO"

Kelly Staples| 3.17.13 @ 9:22PM

Tease.

Kingofthenet| 3.17.13 @ 9:54PM

Nothing says CLASS with a capital C then a women referring to her Breasts as a 'Rack'. I am just surprised she didn't make a vulgar joke about the 'Snapper' or 'Beaver' between her legs.

Brad| 3.18.13 @ 5:47AM

You mean like the current heroine of the left Lena Dunham, Jesterofthenet? That skank makes those kind of statements regularly. If Palin actually talked like that, she'd be your kind of gal...

Crassus| 3.18.13 @ 1:07PM

Well, if vulgar references are good enough for Ashely Judd......

Seek| 3.18.13 @ 12:37AM

Anyone who thinks that a prepared slam-dunk speech before an easy crowd makes Palin presidential material is certifiably nuts. She's going nowhere. She is without question one of the most ridiculous spectacles in American public life. And no, she did NOT virtually save McCain's presidential campaign. From mid-September to mid-October 2008, the McCain-Palin ticket sunk a good half-dozen percentage points in the polls, and much of that was due to her borderline retarded TV interviews. Mainstream media didn't savage her. They didn't have to. She was her own worst enemy.

C. Vernon Crisler | 3.18.13 @ 2:10AM

Sick, you are living in a fantasy world. Wake up! Sarah is here to stay.

Controse| 3.18.13 @ 2:15AM

I take it you haven't watched, with comprehension, the documentary "The Undefeated." It is available at Amazon for $4.99. Netflix also will send you the DVD or you can stream it. Unless you're blinded by hate you'll change your mind once you watch. Here is a hint as to how you can tell right away that you are blinded by hate. You don't believe a word anyone says about Gov. Palin in the DVD.

Brad| 3.18.13 @ 5:49AM

Like all leftists, Sick (as well as Jokeofthenet, Perp, et al) are blinded by hate and rank stupidity. Ther's no hope for any of them.

SUBVET| 3.18.13 @ 5:49PM

Seek......is that why the LEFT & Rove are pissing all over themselves today over what Sarah said at Cpac.

GobBluthe| 3.18.13 @ 11:20PM

What the left ultimately wants is the repeal of the American Revolution.

Seek| 3.19.13 @ 12:45PM

Palin isn't gonna be president. Like Limbaugh, she's an entertainer, not a serious candidate.

JR| 3.19.13 @ 2:29PM

Unlike an entertainer, there's more there than meets the eye. She doesn't have a tin ear like so many RINOs have, for one thing. Another is that she's almost always on the mark with her jabs and ideas. Whether that can translate into being elected is a story for another post.
