The claim that the Cold War is over is wrong. State-sanctioned war by proxy is continuing. Cutting defense spending never works because it takes up next to nothing in the budget - virtually all the budget is consumed by some form of entitlement spending.
Ross Kaminsky| 2.27.13 @ 10:52AM
Mike, eventually "virtually all" of the budget will be consumed by entitlement spending. And it's already a majority of the budget. Nevertheless, defense remains about 20% (as high as 25% if you include veterans benefits and foreign aid) of federal spending and is much higher than it needs to be.
That said, you're absolutely right that cutting entitlement spending should be the top priority, by far, of the federal government.

Move into a discussion of what Janet Napolitano is doing with the illegals in custody all in the name of sequestration. The GOP Senate needs to begin impeachment action against her.

Were you one of those "Iraq is scary" types?

Terrorism NOT an existential threat? Tell it to Israel.
