Whereby I explain why we all should be flabbergasted by the lack of debate on the Senate floor about the Hagel nomination. If the nomination wasn’t even worth debating for the public record, why did opponents bother filibustering 12 days ago in the first place? The Senate’s lack of seriousness, or of a sense of public service, is despicable.
