Whereby I explain why we all should be flabbergasted by the lack of debate on the Senate floor about the Hagel nomination. If the nomination wasn’t even worth debating for the public record, why did opponents bother filibustering 12 days ago in the first place? The Senate’s lack of seriousness, or of a sense of public service, is despicable.

Nice, Hope you get the message Bibi.

When I compare what Prime Minister Netanyahu was doing when he was in his 20's, to what President Obama was doing in his, I think I would prefer Netanyahu as my President. This is not even considering Netanyahu's bloodline, vs Obama's.

Nut-an-yahoo is a lunatic trying to start a 3rd world war. Hagel is a sellout and no threat to anyone any sane Israeli. But that isn't enough for shills like Quin here. They wasted enough time on senseless debate when everyone knew Hagel would be confirmed. At least Rand Paul voted for Hagel's confirmation and proved he wasn't owned by AIPAC,

Bibi is, on his WORST day, a far better leader than ObaMoron will ever hope to be on his BEST day

Take your worship of a filthy, racist, criminal regime and it's insane leader elsewhere. I am for America and Americans first and only. Go move to Israel if you aren't there already, and stay there. Free Palestine. End the terror. End the hate. Integrate the apartheid state. With freedom and justice for all.

In December 2009, after being buffaloed, bullied, and beaten, the Establishment GOP quit. It ceased to be a political force of any strength or influence.

The 2010 election that could have swung the Senate to the GOP was sabotaged by Establishment operatives. Key races, Alaska, Nevada, and Delaware being the most prominent were purposely lost, the candidates ridiculed and abandoned.

In 2012, the entire Establishment ran a fixed abusive primary campaign to install their favorite mushpie and run "acceptable" candidates for the senate. They once again destroyed as many outsider runs as possible, and lost not only the presidency but a winnable senate.

At some point you begin to realized that they have no use for winning. Their power is in lining their pockets, and feigning contempt while doing exactly nothing to blunt the trauma being inflicted by the Democrats on the nation.

It is time for the GOP to fade into history, to be replaced by a viable opposition. Right now there is none.

Why would anybody be “flabbergasted?” The individual that would believe a word any of these clowns (or the pundits that cheer-lead daily for them) is deaf, dumb, blind and stupid. Luckily the only thing they are destroying is the now progressive country we live in and themselves.
And to that I say - good riddance.

What new material surfaced that wasn't sourced to the "Iraq is scary/arm the jihadists in Syria" crew in DC?

And good question, why did these people put on all the theatrics, just to waste everyone's time?

RJ| 2.26.13 @ 7:16PM

I doubt they were spending their time working on a budget to send over to the House. What is Boehner going to do when the current continuing resolution expires? Isn't it time after 4 years to say no more spending through CRs, send us a reasonable budget?

Sjccoach| 2.26.13 @ 8:02PM

Why is anyone surprised that the ruling class is backing a member of the ruling class for the job? When push comes to shove the crooks always stick together.

The four Republican senators voting in favor were Thad Cochran (Miss.), Mike Johanns (Neb.), Richard C. Shelby (Ala.) and Rand Paul (Ky.). All 41 no votes came from Republicans.

Bob K| 2.26.13 @ 10:02PM

The good people of Kentucky should hope that Rand Paul is more useful to them as a Senator than he is to the Republican party as a Senator.

Crassus| 2.26.13 @ 10:46PM

Thank you, Sonny Boy Rand. The apple don't fall too far from the tree. Tea Partiers take notice and wake the hell up.

Jack in Wi| 2.27.13 @ 1:17AM

Crassus: May you end up like your namesake in ancient Rome, a pile of dust in Persia. You seem to love disasterous Middle East campaigns.

Crassus| 2.27.13 @ 9:25AM

Better to end up a pile of dust than a pile of dung like you, Jackie Boy. Go back to fondling ten year olds.

Oldefarte| 2.27.13 @ 10:34AM

"disasterous Middle East campaigns"? Like Benghazi??????????????????

spike59| 2.27.13 @ 5:29AM

Rand is likely to turn out just like his psychotic neo-Nazi Tinfoil Hat wearing old pappy

RAM| 2.27.13 @ 11:32AM

Dereliction in government is this era's main theme. Every branch of government has its own horror stories of dereliction. Voters have their own major piece of the blame. Welcome to systemic breakdown.

Parker| 3.1.13 @ 7:54AM

This whole muckety mess in the Middle East could be resolved in the same manner in which it was created.
Most American jews vote for Democrats. Conversely, and strangely, most Democrats support the Palestinian cause.
Harry Truman, a Democrat, via a UN resolution in 1948 cast the deciding vote and established the State of Israel displacing all Palestinian residents and land owners. So...
If the UN and Obama (another Democrat) resolve to displace the people of New Jersey (a blue state) and simply move them into New York, (a blue state) this will allow the State of Israel to be established in New Jersey in the same manner in which the State of Israel was established in Palestine in 1948. This should end the Middle East situation entirely. The Jews will be 'eliminated' and the Muslims will no longer have a common enemy in their neighborhood. Obama won't be hurt by this. Dems support him no matter what. New York should love it since the Palestinians will have their home back and the displaced Jerseyans can move into the already crowded ghetto districts and reduce some of the traffic and the carbon footprint it creates. Dems will have a bunch of new voters too! Finally, all the red staters who love to support Israel will have a constitutionally legitimate reason to do so. The State of New Jewsey
will be established without changing the flag to have 51 states. Problem solved. (SI)
