Coming to you directly from the Hart Senate Office building where the Senate Judiciary Committee is conducting the first hearing on gun regulation since the Newtown Mass Shooting, entitled, “What Should America Do About Gun Violence?”

The hearing opened with a statement by Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. She spoke haltingly but clearly, still dealing with the brain injuries she suffered two years ago when she was wounded by a shooter who killed six others in Tuscon, Arizona. After thanking the committee for hosting her, she made this appeal:

“Violence is a big problem. Too many children are dying. Too many children. We must do something. It will be hard, but the time is now. You must act. Be bold. Be courageous. Americans are counting on you. Thank you.”

After making these remarks, Ms. Giffords was helped out of the Committee chamber by her husband. Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt) then commenced with his opening statement, followed by ranking member Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa).

I fully realize it is un PC to say anything but positive about Giffords. Nonetheless, she lied for over a year to her constituents by holding onto office when it was clear to all she was unable to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the office. It should have been vacated a a replacement selected immediately post shooting. That would have been honest.

If she was replaced she would not have been eligible for her lifetime Congressional pension. You need 5 years to qualify. When she was shot she had just under 4.

THAT'S why she was allowed to hang on.

Yes! Just like every working American now qualifies for a pension after working 5 years!

Maybe Congress will include that in the new amnesty bill for the illegal aliens? Think of the votes they will get from them!

GG and hubby are shills for the Left. They should be challenged at all times.

When the Constitution of the USA is overthrown it will be done for "the children."

That's it, Gaby. Wear that head wound like a crown. The final refuge of the scoundrel is to take away rights in the name of the children.

It's great and all that we get to hear from victims, but when is Congress or the American people going to hear from folks who used their weapon to prevent themselves from becoming a victim? Don't THEY have a voice too? Aren't they MORE qualified to speak on "gun control" than someone who was a victim?

Better yet why don't we get some actual convicted criminals (they'd feel right at home in DC anyway) to testify and explain to Congress how they go about choosing their victims and if the threat of an armed victim ever plays into their thinking?

Giffords is nothing more than a whore now for the Left, to be trotted out and used to play on the heartstrings of the average LowInfo Idiot American voter.

Those were stirring, original thoughts!
Sorry she was shot by some numbnut, but she's trying to disarm 99% of lawful gun owners. Why didn't she mention mental health? I'm growing tired of her and her husband.
