The Spectacle Blog
The Boy Scouts of America has long been targeted by liberal groups playing the discrimination card over its membership restrictions. CBS News reports that the BSA is now reconsidering its stance on gay members.
Deron Smith, a spokesman for the BSA, said, “The policy change under discussion would allow the religious, civic, or educational organizations that oversee and deliver scouting to determine how to address this issue.”
The BSA reaffirmed its policy of excluding gays only last July. At the time, Smith said maintaining the ban was “absolutely the best policy” for the Boy Scouts.
Scouting officials will make a decision about the policy at a national board meeting next week.

I stand corrected. What they're considering doing is leaving it up to the sponsoring organizations -- churches, schools, etc. -- what policies they will have with respect to rules on sexual orientation of both scouts and scout leaders.

Sorry. I think it is a bad idea to let Gay Scoutmasters in. I'm not a fan of Gay Scouts, either. I'm a Conservative. Scouting has worked just fine as it is.
Gays should start their own scouting organization; sorry. This is NOT a subject that should be broached to young boys entering their time of sexual identification. Scouting teaches appropriate sublimation. Sorry, but supervisory personnel should be above reproach.

The point is gays NEED to infiltrate organizations and destroy them from within. Why? To corrupt and destroy anything that is American or wholesome. Because they know Gay Scouts would never work, and you can't sue anyone if nobody joins your club, but you CAN sue people if they don't ALLOW you to join theirs.

You should ask them why they do not create their own scouting program and why they insist that a group that does not hold to their viewpoint on the matter must conform to their "values."

If that were the case, they would be essentially destroying the groups national identity and its commonly shared code of conduct.

The constitution itself is now being openly attacked and calls for it to be rescinded are being proposed on network (CBS, I believe) television program featuring some academic and others as a legitimate item for consideration and discussion. It is now being trashed and presented as a useless and outdated document.
When will conservatives wake up that this is an undeclared LEFTIST war on this culture, its institutions, and its very founding documents.
Sports is now being infiltrated and scrutinized and politicized. The boy scouts can line up behind the multitude of other institutions under attack.

I've spent my whole professional career defending the First Amendment rights of everyone to speak and write freely no matter what their views, and the rights of religious free exercise for all, so I'm not quite sure what you mean, Simon. And unless you are a convicted felon, or a person with mental disabilities that make you potentially dangerous to your fellow citizens, I support your right to keep and bear arms. I also believe that New York's stupid efforts to regulate the size of soda purchases are, well just plain stupid as well as offensive.
