The House Should Stand Firm Against Pork Packaged as “Disaster Relief”

Leave it to the disaster hustlers to package political pork as humanitarian relief

The House is taking up relief legislation for Hurricane Sandy.  To its credit the GOP majority slowed the funding express for the pork-filled bill originally approved by the Senate.  The Heritage Foundation created a video that illustrates the wasteful bill that vote-minded politicians have been trying to pass off as emergency relief.  It should be widely shared as a reminder of the shameless Big Spenders who populate Capitol Hill.

Even the fiscal cliff bill that was allegedly designed to make some dent in the deficit was stuffed full of pork.

Those who added the pork should be named and shamed as exploiters of the misfortunes of others. They should be treated as looters.

Go to Hell, Red States. Time for us to get a piece.

The fix is to eliminate the entire concept and the use of non-germain riders. Each bill and each expenditure should rise or fall on its own merits not on the surreptitious benefits of whatever bill to which it might be attached .

Sorry, King: Needs to be for Coastal guys only, not Alaskans.

You, yourself, deserve nothing.

Pork is best served as bacon, ribs, roasts and charred skin. Sometimes head sausage is good too.

But, Pork included in legislation should be eliminated. Either put all Pork in one single bill, or each Pork item should be a stand-alone bill. Further, the president should have line-item veto power over Pork Bills as just described.
