Washington, D.C. mayor Vincent Gray has called upon the Washington Redskins to consider changing their name if the team wishes to have a new stadium built in D.C.
The Redskins presently play their home games at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland.
What a load of silliness!
Why should the Redskins change a name they’ve had for 80 years because a few professional activists and their apologists in the liberal media express phony outrage?
In the context of football, the name Redskins signifies the warrior spirit and isn’t a slur against Native Americans.
The Redskins should stay put in Maryland and politely tell Gray to shove it.

The rantings over teams with indian names and or mascots has always been assinine since people respect and adore their sports. Seems like it would be an honor to be part of a team name. But the world is a crazy place.
