Oh, the things a hack novelist will do to move copies! Macmillan
has just published an alternate history novel by C.J. Sansom, the
British crime writer famed for his Matthew Shardlake cycle, in
which Britain makes peace with the Nazis after Dunkirk and the
Right Hon. Enoch Powell becomes Secretary of State for India in a
German-allied government.
Huh? Enoch Powell, who wrote to his parents after Chamberlain
visited Hitler at Berchtesgaden that:
I do here in the most solemn and bitter manner curse the Prime
Minister of England [Great Britain] for having cumulated all
his other betrayals of the national interest and honour, by his
last terrible exhibition of dishonour, weakness and gullibility.
The depths of infamy to which our accurst “love of peace” can lower
us are unfathomable…
—who left his professorship in classics at Sydney University in
order to volunteer immediately after war was declared in 1939, who
enlisted as a private in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment and ended
the war as a brigadier (one of only two men to ascend the ranks so
rapidly), who more than once said that he wished he had died in
combat?
According to the Daily
Mail, Powell’s aged widow Pamela is “furious” with Sansom.
Quite rightfully so, one should think.

Enoch Powell was a great British patriot and if democracy was just, he would have been an excellent prime minister. Democracy being what it is, Britain got Teddy Heath instead. Fed to the wolves by Heath after the "Rivers of Blood" speech, Powell was right about immigration and the British establishment was wrong.

Enoch was right and a great patriot in WW2. It's a shame the left keeps lying about historical figures it does not agree with. I saw him being interviewed by William F. Buckley and never forgot it. What a fine erudite man.

Yes, Jack---Enoch understood the Islamic threat, something which you do not. You aren't fit to lick his used underwear.
In short, Powell agreed with ME, not YOU, on Islam, you flinkin' maroon. Here are some high points from a speech of his in 1977!!!!!:
■The creation of a politically correct climate in which the dangers cannot be discussed
■Dark motives of those in government of those who wish to create our current problems with a section of society (Islam) who wish to dominate on a worldwide scale
■ Violence on a catastrophic scale within our major cities
Political parties will grant even more privileges to minorities in return for votes
■
The extremists amongst the Muslims will hold sway over the moderates
■The domination of the majority by a minority
■
■Islam will become the majority in important key areas of our country as their birth rate exceeds ours
■
■Terrorist bombs
■
■Heroic measure will be needed to radically alter the prospective pattern of our future population
■
■Civil war is likely unless such measures are undertaken.
Understand, scumbag?

I regard Enoch Powell's "Rivers of Blood" speech of 4/20/68 as the finest oratory in the entire post-World War II era. British political leadership, including the Monarchy, regrettably, has chosen to shun him ever since, and to great detriment of their country.

Chronology doesn't work either. Powell was 29 in 1940 and wasn't an MP until 1945. Even if he'd got in at a by-election, he wouldn't have made the Cabinet immediately. In the real world, he only made the Cabinet in 1960 and then only as Minister of Health, a far junior position to Sec. of State for India.
Leftist AND inept!

Well, Harry Turtledove did an Alternate History where Churchill was allied with a nazi-like Confederacy. (The US was allied with the Kaiser, having earlier helped Germany to win WWI.)
However, the point is well taken.

.... I do here in the most solemn and bitter manner curse the (occupant of the office of president of the united States of America) for having cumulated all his other betrayals of the national interest and honor, by his last terrible exhibition of dishonor, weakness and gullibility. The depths of infamy to which his accursed “love of peace” have lowered us are unfathomable ....
Seems Historian/Anthropologist/Prophet, Doctor Powell, knew Zero considerably better than do most of Zero's contemporaries!
