It looks like President Obama will
appoint former Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel to be his next
Secretary of Defense and could do so as early as Monday.
If Obama appoints Hagel then he will once again be telling
Israel, “F*#k you.”
And why not? For all his antipathy towards Israel, Obama still
got more than two thirds of the Jewish vote last year.
It tells us that Obama is comfortable with someone
who derisively uses the term “Jewish lobby” and
“let the Jews pay for it”.
It also reminds us that Obama views Israel, not Iran as the
biggest obstacle to peace in the Middle East.
Still, I don’t understand why Obama wants to pick a fight with
Chuck Schumer. I guess Obama thinks the Senate will confirm their
former colleague.
I’m no fan of Barney Frank but I would love to see Deval Patrick
appoint him to the Senate if for no other reason than the pleasure
of seeing Frank make Hagel sweat during the confirmation
hearings.

There is a huge Jewish lobby. Why can't Hagel say so without being labled an anti-semite. I am not in any thrall of Hagel. He could of run for President either as a Republican or independent in 2008 or this year. The fact that he is possibly going to work for Obama, who is a warmonger and mass murderer does not say much for him. I think Obama wants him as a front man when he downsizes the military. It is a good idea. The military is massively bloated and most people want the troops home and the foreign bases closed. Obama plans to use the money saved to push his socialist domestic agenda. I would not worry Aaron. I doubt if he will be nominated. I nominated I doubt if he will be confirmed. If confirmed he will be totally neutered and be a yes man. The Jewish Lobby is too powerful and will win this one as usual. I predict the nomination will never be made. Obama is just pulling the chain of the neocons, who are hated by his base, and a lot of independents. Hagel is just a stalking horse.

NEOCON! NEOCON! NEOCON!

The foreign bases like the ones in Europe, for example.
There are a lot of Republicans not fond of Hagel. There are also a number of Senators like Schumer and Leiberman who will not support. Let's see if the number not supporting hits 35.
Quite frankly, Hagel is an antisemitic, terrorist fellating bastard. He is a Cheekspreader for Hamas. I hope that's clear enough.
Packers may have beat the Vikings, but they still suck.

It will be Hagel's antipathy toward gays that will do his nomination in, not his comments on Israel. And that's just fine.

Why so many Jews support Obama even though he does not support Israel ? Add a dash of knee jerk
liberalism with the accent on the jerk part and throw a bit of socialist leanings and you probably have the answer. But I will also add a dash of fear --fear of anti-Semitism and fear of being called "racists" to the mix. One day this will bite these people and they will wonder " why? " "Za shto ? "
Just as in the days of Joseph Stalin.

The charge that Obama "does not support Israel" is pure bullshit. The administration stood firm with Israel on the Palestine statehood vote, affirmatively backed the attack on Gaza in response to Hamas missles, and financed and set up the iron dome defense system. American Jews are smart enough to understand this, and apparently smarter than you.

if so, he's busking his own Party, which opposes Israel bya 2-1 margin, according to recent polling

What poll is that, Spike?

Concerning the US Jewish vote of 86% in 2008 and 69% in 2012 for Obama, please recall the words of that great American philosopher, Forrest Gump: STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES!!!!
Sean| 1.6.13 @ 7:59PM
Jews vote overwhelmingly for Obama because Obama has the same values and beliefs. as most of them. Most American Jews are very liberal and hate traditional America. They are on the fore front of the culture war.

Goldstein's only differences with Barney Frank are whether we should be taxed at 47% or 48%.

And we're surprised by Obama?

Hagel has the nerve to put America first. I guess he forgot whom he really works for.

well, with Shrillary leaving, the Administration would be one Jew-hater short...Hagel's just filling that slot

As a former inmate of Massachusetts, I can tell you without fear of contradiction, without any specific knowledge on the subject, that Barney Frank's desire for the senate seat is motivated primarily by his sincere and heartfelt desire to increase his government pension. That's how we roll in Massachusetts.

Let me ask a very simple question. If the Democrats don't want Hagel why should the Republicans get involved? The old story, when someone is screwing up, just get out of the way!
