A must-read as we go into a critical phase of budget negotiations between John Boehner and the White House:

Exposing Washington’s Dishonest Budget Math

Mitchell's exactly right yet why doesn't Boehner and McConnell explain it to the American people? It could be that both of them are profoundly inarticulate. I doubt either man could explain the intricacies of tic-tack-toe to a class of college freshmen. Most likely, Boehner and McConnell are as committed to the current big government conglomerate as the Democrats are.

I first voted in 1980 and voted Republican due to it being the alleged vehicle of small government. But for mild attempts to rein in government spending in 1981 and 1995, the Republicans have done nothing tangible to cut the government. Consider me a disappointed customer.

Ross!

Where ya been. We've been badmouthing you pretty bad whenever Tim convenes the motley crew. If you ain't gonna respond, we're not gonna put forth the effort. :-)

Regards,

Mike

Sorry, Mike, I actually have a day job and don't really have the time to partake in the comments as much as I'd like to.

That work thing sucks. I'm hoping to avoid that once they do cut me loose from the hospital. :-)

At some point we should blame the voters. What is so difficult about understanding that we have a 16 trillion deficit, we borrow 30 to 40% of every dollar we spend, and we cannot continue like this? Yet the Dems and media were obsessed with providing free condoms for Sandra Fluke.

And many want to blame Romney or Bohener or whomever for not explaining this enough. While there is enough blame to go around, the blame is squarely on Obama for the deficity, and the voters for voting for him, or staying home or voting third party which helped elect Obama.

You've got it. The stark reality is that this country cannot survive mass democracy for an office as powerful as the presidency has become. The issues facing this country require a certain level of voter understanding that the majority of modern voters just cannot muster. We are doomed if we cannot get control of voter eligibility, and I just can't see that happening. Sad.

To get the picture of why Boehner et al won't stick up for conservatism, just read "Throw Them All Out" by Peter Schweizer.
