Thanks for our Veterans

I explain at some length here

It starts thusly:

At a conference in Colorado earlier this week on defense and foreign-policy issues — a conference sponsored by the Heritage Foundation and the El Pomar Foundation — there was plenty of food for thought on a host of topics. But as we move into Thanksgiving, I’ll focus here on how we should give thanks — and more than thanks, give the right sort of assistance — to those, less than 1 percent of the population, who wear this nation’s colors while bearing arms to protect us.

One of the most galvanizing speakers at the conference was Col. David W. Sutherland (Ret.), former special assistant to the Joint Chiefs of Staff and now a full-time advocate for service personnel and veterans.

“We’re not victims,” he said. “We’re veterans. We don’t need pity; we need opportunity.”

But there’s lots more. Please read, and give a hand up and some friendship to a veteran today. And Happy Thanksgiving.

And King O is trying to reduce TRICARE. The current administration could care less about veterans and families of veterans.

Quin: “We’re veterans. We don’t need pity; we need opportunity.” Now that's a fact!! I'm one of those one-million Soldiers you wrote about, who's transitioning out of the Army next year as well (after almost 11 years of service)!! I hope to luck out and find a job as soon as I can, because I don't want to end up on the unemployment line like everybody else is nowadays!! I wish I could stay in longer, but I got into the Army a little bit late in life, and now a decade later, I've finally realized I'm playing a young man's game, and I'm not young anymore!! And as Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry said, "a man's got to know him limitations", and I know mine, and trying to keep up with a bunch of 18-21 year olds, is my limitations!! Damn they run fast!!

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR MILITARY SERVICE, LLL! Here's hoping you and yours have a Happy Thanksgiving [and remember to keep a handy supply of Alka Selzer available, since we all have a bad habit of overeating on this wonderful day]!!!!!!!

I donated to an organization run by a retired general that provides meals for disabled vets.

from a vet, born into a family of vets going back to the War of Independence (over time, we've fought the British, the Germans, the Italians, the Spanish, the Mexicans, the Cubans, the Japanese, the North Koreans, the Chinese, the Vietnamese, the Soviets ("Cold"ly), the Iraqis, the Taliban...as the joke goes, our family can't get along with ANYBODY)...I wish to thank all the veterans out there; prayers go up from our family daily for those still serving at home and around the world

Veterans protect my worthless hide. Might I recommend that everyone on this website buy Caliphate from my favorite vet, Tom Kratman?
