Yesterday, Senator John McCain suggested that former President Bill Clinton be appointed as an envoy for the Middle East.

Well, I suppose we can be grateful that McCain didn’t suggest Jimmy Carter for the job.

But let’s not forget that Arafat was practically a house guest at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue during Clinton’s two terms in office and still Arafat walked away from peace talks at Camp David in 2000.

Now I’m not blaming Bubba for Arafat’s actions. Arafat didn’t want peace with Israel in 2000 and the Palestinians, be they Fatah or Hamas, don’t want peace with Israel today. It doesn’t matter who we send over there.

Well, a duplicitous scumbag with the moral sense of a honey badger would be perfect. And if he screws some Arab women and gets the infidel punishment, well....he can't say he hasn't been warned.

Such was my thought, though I imagine Bill might be willing to change up to young boys, and as long as he didn't do it on the street corner, he would be at home with fellow travelers.

Upon his return, the homosexual lobby would probably at last forgive him for "Don't Ask, Don't Tell".

No, let's recognize reality.

There will be no peace in the Middle East as long as the Arabs "peace" terms require Israel to commit suicide. Until that changes, there's nothing to talk about.

RCV| 11.19.12 @ 7:43PM

Until Hamas is taken out of the equation for good, talks are useless.

Occam's Tool| 11.19.12 @ 7:55PM

BD57, RCV, forgive my jocularity about Bill, as you stated the ultimate absurdity much more clearly than I did.

The only purpose such talks would serve is to put pressure on Israel to not get rid of Hamas. One day the Palestinians will stop wanting to kill Jewish children. Then they will be able to work on getting rich, and with Israeli help, they will do very well.

Max Brooks has it as a positive outcome of a Zombie War. Unfortunately, that may be what it takes.

Unfortunately, it is unlikely that the necessary deed will be done this time around. JPost reports that while 83% of Israelis support the government's actions to date, less than 30% want a ground invasion to follow. Netanyahu is unlikel to risk heavy casualties with an election looming. That's why his government has welcomed Egyptian mediation efforts and has sent an envoy to Cairo.

This, my friends, is why John McCain is not respected by many conservatives.

This idea is a joke.

Who here remembers the last time Clinton tried his hand at Middle East Peace?

It started a whole new round of violence that lasted 5 years. Remember bus bombings? ...Remember the Israeli wall?

Joke!

If John McCain is serious he really needs to retire now. We are dealing with Iran not the PA.

allendale| 11.20.12 @ 9:05AM

You are absolutely right. This Hamas rocket barrage is a feint financed and arranged by Iran. Iran hopes to provoke a response by Israel. The carnage of course will be covered with an anti Israel slant by the media and there may even be a condemnation resolution at the UN. Iran would then hope that Israel would be a little less likely to take definitive action against its nuclear program.

Crassus| 11.20.12 @ 10:44AM

Jack from WI would be my choice for Middle East Peace Envoy.

Occam's Tool| 11.21.12 @ 11:10AM

No great loss if he gets sodomized and murdered by his friends.

There is no difference between the Republican and Democrat Parties when it comes to Globalist foreign policy. W. Bush gave us Iraq and Obama gave us Libya and drone strikes in Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia not to mention our meddling in Syria on behalf of the little Osama bin Laden's in the FSA (our friends the Free Syrian Army).

Both parties support globalist free trade policies that have destroyed our manufacturing base.

Occam's Tool| 11.21.12 @ 11:08AM

Ah, now we hear from the neo-Liberal Russian Peasant contingent. Who'd he vote for in California? Oh, yeah---straight Democrat.

Occam's Tool| 11.21.12 @ 11:09AM

In case you are wondering, Dmitry, I'm going to rub that fact in your face like a cheesegrater these next two years. You owned up to it, live with it.

Oldefarte| 11.21.12 @ 10:43AM

No it's not entirely [though partially, since he's a Democrat] Clinton's fault or absolutely not McCains/Republicans' faults as to what is now occurring in the ME, but it is most definately the fault of the 69% of American Jews who voted for this POTUS both on 11/4/08 [86%] and 11/6/12 [69%]. If they see now and in the future their friends, family and associates suffering from the numerous attacks occurring in Gaza etc, they should look in their respective mirrors for the responsibility of same. Ther was/is no excuse for even 1% of them voting for this POTUS and same is inexcusable and deplorable. The blood of not only Israel but also the Benghazi situation is on their hands now [granted same happened before this recent election, but they did nothing to prevent its happenings in the future, and that sadly is the point]. It's asinine to constantly point fingers of blame on this that and the other, when responsible voting by these American Jews and others as well would/could have prevented this type disasters probably.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
