Venezuelans (Americans) re-elect 'el Comandante' (Barack Obama) despite country's crippled economy ...
Meanwhile, many observers question how much further Venezuela's (America's) economy can limp without major reform...

But heavy backing from state media (US mainstream media) and lavishly funded anti-poverty programmes, including everything from subsidised housing to selling the poor imported microwave ovens and flat-screen TVs at cost, have cemented Mr Chávez's (Mr. Obama's) popularity among an underclass previously ignored.
"I am very happy. Mr Chávez (Mr. Obama) is the joy of my heart," said Gladys Montijo (Ms. Obama Phone), a 54-year-old teacher (slacker) celebrating outside the Miraflores palace (the welfare office), illustrating the devotion that the President has inspired in many working-class Venezuelans (Americans). Romney's campaign emphasis, particularly its lack of focus on corruption and abuse of power, was his gift to Obama.

The trouble with making post-election analyses, as Romney did, is that they always sound like excuses. Besides, he's stuck on small picture. The big picture is that Obama and co-conspirators managed to blame the continuing recession on Bush, and too many Republicans and Paulites joined in the scapegoating. Nor did Romney do sufficient to put the onus back on Obama.
