“Go After” Obama

Obama at his press conference invited John McCain, Lindsay Graham and others to “go after me” if they have questions about the Libya debacle.

Oh, yes, please do. Go after him and after him and after him until he cries uncle. He’s responsible for a failure to see threats, for a refusal to provide security, for a refusal to attempt a rescue effort, and for lies, lies, lies in an attempt to cover up his incompetence (or worse than incompetence). Go after him, please, please, please. His behavior has been scandalous.

Yep, he's a real stand-up guy. If memory recalls, he hid behind the skirts of Hillary Clinton and Rice pre-election when he had political stakes in the game and was trying to run out the clock.

Funny how things change right after an election when (A) you no longer have to answer to an electorate and (B) you have a scoyphantic media on your side.

It's all part of ObamaUnleashed, '12 version, where he can make empty "manly" gestures because....because he can.

Occam's Tool| 11.14.12 @ 4:02PM

Defense stocks are going to head lower for a while. Good buying opportunity given that Obama is setting us up for WWIII.

Albert Constantine Jr.| 11.14.12 @ 4:16PM

Lindsey Graham came into the national eye prior to obtaining his Senate seat as a result of his role as an impeachment manager in the House of Representatives in 1998. After witnessing Obama's attitude today, along with the actions and attitude of his administration during the last four years, I think it is time to dust off that playbook once again, and start defining High Crimes and Misdemeanors as our Founding Fathers understood them.

CJW| 11.15.12 @ 8:14AM

McCain and Graham seen alive and energized by the BenghaziGate. Maybe McCain will finally stop that "reaching across the aisle with my Dem friends." Maybe the old warrior will serve his country again by leading the investigation of BenghaziGate.

Indy| 11.15.12 @ 8:58AM

Ah no, don't hold your breath. Notice the questions that are not being asked. Are we running guns through the Muslim Brotherhood to the Syrian "rebels" and was Stevens the conduit for that operation? Why was he meeting with a Turkish diplomat in Benghazi on 9/11?

Something is rotten, there are many threads to this story but I have no faith in McCain or Graham, remember how McCain embraced Huma when basic questions were raised about people high up in our government with relationships to an organization who views us as the enemy?

CJW| 11.15.12 @ 10:52AM

Unfortunately, McCain and Lindsey, with Jason Chavets, are the only vocal ones. The rest, such as Boehner, Ryan, McConnell, Cantor, must demand demand and convene committees to investigate. Maybe also a special prosecutor, but if there is a special prosecutor, then many will take the Fifth before the congressional committees, thus forcing the comittees to grant immunity. It will be worth giving immunity to the underlings to get to the leaders, such as Axelrod, Obaman, and Mrs Bubba.

Indy| 11.15.12 @ 11:36AM

McCain / Graham may be vocal but they are leaving a lot of questions off the table which I believe is intentional since they support arming the "rebels" who are our foes.

Getting involved in Libya from the outset was a mistake and never went to Congress for approal, same with expanding troops in N. Africa, we have troops in Jordan and Congress remains silent. McCain wants us involved in Syria, he is a disgrace as a Senator and an intellectual lightweight. He is too blind to see the danger to our country by partnering with the Muslim Brotherhood.

CJW| 11.15.12 @ 11:43AM

You are correct that McCain is an interventionist. But at this point he, Graham, and I forgot about Kelly Ayote, are the only ones out there. Maybe McCain wants to avenge his 2008 loss, and Ayote wants to make a name for herself. Whatever their motivation, the result is to investigate BenghaziGate and hold Obama and his lackeys accountable for their incopetence and coverup.

Mike in N.C.| 11.15.12 @ 3:43PM

McCain is a bitter old man. Graham is occasionally able to muster sanity. This is not one of those occasions.

Butch| 11.14.12 @ 5:52PM

" . . . (or worse than incompetence)." Yup. Dereliction of Duty as Commander in Chief.

Oldefarte| 11.14.12 @ 7:35PM

I hate to play the Grinch Who Stole Christmas, but THE CAT IS ALREADY OUT OF THE FRIGGIN BAG, people! We had a chance with the SCOTUS and Roberts caved. We had a chance with 11/6/12 and the people caved, and yes we can even go back to 11/4/08 and the GD dumbarses played their stupid-as-a-box-of-bricks routine! When is enough, enough? I've heard people pee-peeing, moaning and groaning for four plus years now and then they re-elect these domestic terrorists. It's too late now, people....it's the bottom of the ninth and we're behind 9-0! Where were you and your friends, neighbors, co-workers, church members, family etc on 11/6/12? We lost by what 2 mil votes? It's game, set and match! What is John McCain or Lindsey Graham going to be able to do now? I'm so sick and tired of hearing Romney didn't do this, that or the other [and the same GD thing four years prior about McCain]. When are you people going to realize that we're faced now with domestic terrorism? We've been captured? Benghazi anyone?????? Do you know excrement about what is probably occurring there at the hands of our government? It ain't videos and it ain't flash mobs, and it ain't sex with generals either. There's answers but drastic ones now. I discounted the "I" word before but not now. Only problem is that we probably don't heve the political number for same, and then then terrorists will start screaming the "R" word, if the "I" word is mentioned. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!!!

Paul McGrath| 11.14.12 @ 10:27PM

McCain?

Yeah. Right.

Ted R.| 11.15.12 @ 5:09AM

Hillyer - Christ, lay off the wild swinging. You're just going give yourself an aneurysm. Benghazi is just like Fast and Furious - a tempest in a teapot, transparently manufactured outrage by the right-wing echo machine. Of which you, of course, are a card-carrying member. The FACT is that this Administration is the most scandal-free since the Carter administration. But that just can't be squared with your Obama-as-Antichrist obsession.

I pity you, and I can really sympathize, since I felt exactly the same way when Bush was re-elected.

Now it's YOUR turn. Poetic, really because Obama's rise is a direct consequence of Kerry's defeat.

Anyway, this time WE have the political capital. And I hope you and the Tea-Party-Idiots column know better, than try again for trumped-up impeachment proceedings. You will lose the House for SURE if you try it this time.

Oldefarte| 11.15.12 @ 10:14AM

Mike in N.C.| 11.15.12 @ 3:54PM

Thanks for the compendium of all of the right wing bullshit I've read over the past year. All that is missing is that we have a Muslim, Marxist, Kenyan anti-colonialist president for a second term. This is one load of crap.

HyacinthClare| 11.15.12 @ 3:34PM

People are DEAD. We are treated to one lie after another after another. Americans were left to die for seven hours to cover up ... something. "Manufactured outrage"? How DARE you, sir???

Mike in N.C.| 11.15.12 @ 3:45PM

Many people are dead because the Bush administration treated us to one lie after another to justify the invasion of Iraq. Where is your outrage about that?

spike59| 11.15.12 @ 5:40AM

"Benghazi is just like Fast and Furious - a tempest in a teapot, transparently manufactured outrage by the right-wing echo machine"
----------------------------------------------------
I can understand how the deaths of hundreds of Mexicans and two Americans in the law enforcement community (F&F), and the deaths of 4 State Department employees, one of them our Ambassador, constitutes 'a tempest in a teapot'...after all, the ends (the Progressive agenda) justifies the means, right????
-----------------------------------------------------
"The FACT is that this Administration is the most scandal-free since the Carter administration. "
-------------------------------------
Ted, with that MORONIC statement, you've proved that you don't know the meaning of 'fact' OR 'scandal-free'...but by all means, keep providing constant fellation to your Obamessiah...i'm sure he'll rub your head gently after he gives you a load of 'hope&change;'

spike59| 11.15.12 @ 6:15AM

"Go after" Rice as well; the idea that the UN Ambassador should get a pass for REPEATEDLY INTENTIONALLY lying to the American people when the State Department knew (In REAL TIME) what was going on in Beghazi is an insult to our intelligence...she draws a handsome salary from our taxes, she IS accountable to us for her actions

aware| 11.15.12 @ 6:16AM

If you "get the facts", and you won't, you will find a CIA dirty tricks operation gone wrong. You will find the Army, which hates the CIA(which hates the Army), not too much willing to "rescue" CIA agents.

Your hatred of Obama makes you think this is about him, but it is much bigger than that. It's about the Spooks doing what they do: fomenting unrest, funding bad people with the proceeds of weapon and drug sales, playing both sides like good little Jesuits, destroying the little credibility the US has left, and generally acting as though they, and they alone, can do whatever they wish.

And you would find that Presidents, even the hated One, are as terrified of the Spooks as any potential enemy. In the process many of the Sacred Cows of the neocons would be gored as a result. So be careful when you blunder into an obvious Psyop still holding to the myth of "good government". No doubt you will soon be provided with the sacrificial scape goat you need.

Mike W| 11.15.12 @ 7:00AM

I detest Obama. He is a race baiting redistributionist.

But -- Benghazi?? Are my fellow Republicans out of their stinking minds? You are worried about 4 dead Americans when you supported an absurd pointless war in Iraq that cost 4000 DEAD AMERICANS. Any neocon or "we arent going to cut and run" type has lost their credibility on American deaths.

Remember Rumsfeld commenting on the lack of Armor on vehicles in Iraq saying "stuff happens"?

Hypocritical nonsense.

Let's beat Obama on the home front.

Mike in N.C.| 11.15.12 @ 3:46PM

You're making progress Mike W. Now, if you can get over the race baiting, redistributionist bullshit you will be okay.

Martin kzovich| 11.15.12 @ 7:26AM

I believe we lost the election because we did not go after Obama --it was a failure of the Romney-Ryan campaign. Let us see what our geniuses do now .

Oldefarte| 11.15.12 @ 10:22AM

"You own it"!!!!!!!!!

Mike in N.C.| 11.15.12 @ 3:40PM

So where did all of the super pac money go? Balloons?

Do you have any idea how ridiculous you are when you argue that the GOP didn't go after Obama. You believe your own bullshit.

Martin kzovich| 11.15.12 @ 7:33AM

Ted R if you want to be an IDIOT be my guest.

MikeW you are at best very short sighted. This was an act of War against US territory on 9/11 no less and it but a small part of a larger picture of a big foreign policy which instead of preventing war is FAR MORE LIKELY TO GET US INTO ONE.

JP| 11.15.12 @ 9:19AM

Well, he asked for it. Maybe a federal marshall will show up on the 10th hole today and deliver a House subpeona?

Teflon93 | 11.15.12 @ 10:15AM

No one's going after Obama, much less Lindsey Graham, the Mouth of McCainron.

Republicans are weak little Ruling Class bootlickers who will do as told.

Watch Boehner and McConnell cave then try to tell me I'm wrong.

Oldefarte| 11.15.12 @ 10:23AM

"You own it"!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Teflon93 | 11.15.12 @ 7:20PM

Ahh, Oldefarte, freshly back from the Romney transition team.

How goes the inauguration planning?

Oldefarte| 11.15.12 @ 2:23PM

Oldefarte| 11.15.12 @ 2:26PM

Go "bootlick" Ronnie's jockstrap!!!!!!

Teflon93 | 11.15.12 @ 7:22PM

Sadly Olde Liberal's gone off his meds again.

Who's Ronnie?

Mike in N.C.| 11.15.12 @ 3:38PM

Your tedious, Quin. Mailing in red meat to satisfy the all too easily satisfied TAS crowd. Why not write about what the Republicans should do to become a viable party? Waiting to see which way the wind will end up blowing?

Teflon93 | 11.15.12 @ 7:23PM

There's nothing to write about---how many times does one have to write "Thou shalt not nominate a liberal in a conservative party" to get the simple truth of it?

Mike in N.C.| 11.15.12 @ 5:41PM

Haley Barbour said the GOP needs a proctologist's exam. True. What he will find is a lot of people who have their heads up their ass.
