Yes, Barack Obama, with an election hanging over his head, is
suddenly taking a disaster seriously and getting high marks on his
response. In other words, he’s finally doing his job. But this is
just about the first time he actually has responded well to a
disaster, as
I outline here.
As in:
When Nashville suffered horrific flooding in 2010, where
was Obama? Nowhere to be found. He certainly didn’t visit, and
didn’t do much to urge the rest of the country to come to
Nashville’s aid.
Where was Obama when Hurricane Isaac devastated several parishes
in Louisiana? Unfortunately, making racial issues out of
hurricane response is a favorite
pastime of the President’s…and despite his earlier
standard of the imperative of “waiving the Stafford Act,”
hestill refuses to waive
the Stafford Act for Isaac victims.
When the BP oil spill happened, even James
Carville blasted Obama’s apparent lack of interest or
energy in responding, and Obama was quickly
at loggerheads with Gov. Bobby Jindal, and he proceeded to
defy even Democratic
Sen. Mary Landrieu by putting a moratorium and then still
slow-walking permits on new Gulf drilling — in defiance
of a
federal judge’s order, so egregiously that the Obama
administration was found officially in contempt of
court.
And so on.
Maybe somebody should waive the Stafford Act so that the White
Hous itself can get aid without putting up any of its own matching
funds — because, Lord knows, this White House is a real disaster
area.

My wife suggested last night that perhaps Christie's groveling and fawning was so he wouldn't get the Jindal treatment that Louisiana got.
Or maybe it's just the Huey Long approach, Quin. Benevolence for those who voted for him, malevolence for those who did not.

Sadly Christie was hancuffed by the devastation to his state and his dedication to getting every possible dime of federal money/assistance. No doubt this POTUS demanded his "groveling" as a pre-condition for providing same. Do not ignorantly put anything past this Chicago group of community organizing hardball-politics group, and cut Christie some slack. Obama's visit to NJ was directly purposed and intended as a demonstration of his political hammering of a state in desperate need of federal assistance. It's just one more reason why everyone should vote their straight Republican ticket on Tuesday!!!!

Hey people are eating out of trash bins in NYC, but it is Bush's fault.
Oldefarte| 11.2.12 @ 9:36AM
We all have sympathy, but on the flip side of your coin, they will then turn right around and vote for Obama/Democrats on Tuesday. So who is at fault there? Bloomberg endorses Obama when he of all people knows the truth about him, so maybe NYC partially deserves their fate??????

As a resident of a very blue state badly hit by Sandy
I will tell you this: The more power is off,and access to food, and fuel is hard the more the people will be angry. And it will show that no mat the ass holes in the White House do or the jack asses in City Hall or the Gov says the " show me " attitude will trump.

Great points Quin! Anyone who can't see through the BS of this POTUS and thoroughly examine his history is a foolish and stupid idiot. Vote straight Republican ticket on Tuesday to save this country from total destruction!!!!
