What Country is This?

Take a guess what words fill in the blanks (different words for each of the two blanks) in this news story from Friday:

As the sun burned in the soft blue sky, thousands of Muslims poured into ___________ early Friday and filled the morning with the sounds of prayer as they celebrated Eid al-Adha, or the Feast of the Sacrifice, the most important holiday of the Islamic calendar.

“Eid Mubarak,” men and women said in greeting, wishing blessings for the day. Youngsters skipped school, elders from across __________ glowed with the spirit of the season - in culmination of the annual pilgrimage, called Hajj, a tribute to Prophet Abraham’s life and legacy.

OK, let’s make it multiple choice:

1) Angel Stadium, Southern California

2) Tahrir Square, Cairo

3) Wembley Stadium, London

4) Melbourne Cricket Grounds, south-eastern Australia

5) Roland Garros Stadiium, Paris

Read the story and find out. Am I wrong to feel concerned?

This is the former Anaheim Stadium. It has hosted Billy Graham Crusades in the past. They probably were larger than this event.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A.....of_Anaheim

Bob K| 10.26.12 @ 11:18PM

And 20 consecutive annual crusades by evangelist Greg Laurie.

No mention of any outcry about either.

Mender| 10.27.12 @ 6:33PM

It's worth noting that many of these people left Iran because they don't like its current government.

So, in other words, they should be exactly the people Americans want to keep on side so that word gets out to the Iranian on the street that their government is lying when it says that the USA is evil.

Ross Kaminsky| 10.27.12 @ 12:00AM

I hear you, and yet I can't help but come back to the fact that Islam is antithetical to democracy, to liberty, to "all men are created equal."

The same cannot be said of Christianity (and I say that as someone who is not Christian.)

Bob K| 10.27.12 @ 12:22AM

No argument with you there!

I wonder, because this place is owned by the city of Anaheim, where the ACLU had been when Graham and Laurie had their events? There must be a big rental fee.

Mender| 10.27.12 @ 6:41PM

Quite right Ross! I hear we Jews are also all Marxists and depraved cosmopolitans taking orders from Moscow and, erm, obviously we Communist Jews also control the world banking system, and oh do I have to carry on making comparisons to the stupid nonsens people believed in the 1930s?

Seriously, go talk to some twentysomething Muslims: they're proud of their community and heritage but if you suggested they're a threat to America they'd burst out laughing. Half of them are in Tehrangeles because their families' views of the Iranian government was pretty similar to your own.

Abdullah| 10.27.12 @ 10:12PM

We do laugh a lot - who needs violent jihad, when we have Menders doing all the dirty work for us? We love liberal Jews, they are gonna be last infidels to get their throats slit. Capos.

JD| 10.28.12 @ 1:54AM

The simple reality is that "freedom of religion" is a canard. It's so absurd on its face that it's hard to believe so many people think we can do it, or ever have done it.

The label "religion" is so broad that it can encompass virtually any idea (which is why it is used VERY subjectively, in service of an agenda, almost every time it is used).

We cannot tolerate an ideal that can be distilled into "anything goes." We just can't. Some of the "anythings" WILL compromise things we can't afford to compromise.

There's a reason the idea of "tolerance" causes so many problems. It's a dumb idea. To tolerate anything is to value nothing, such that you tolerate attacks on anything. But even then you're intolerant of intolerance.

The reality is that incompatible ideas, those which are hostile to one another, WILL war with each other whenever they come into contact with one another. That cannot be changed. There are only three states: War, the destruction of one side, or the two sides avoiding each other.

Those are our choices for dealing with Islam. A pity that only they seem to know it.

Bob Grant| 10.26.12 @ 11:13PM

6) The Streets of Dearborn Michigan?

Stan Redmond| 10.27.12 @ 3:30PM

That's exactly what I thought.

geronl| 10.26.12 @ 11:16PM

A lot of people about what happened in Benghazi are asking the same question.

Bob Grant| 10.26.12 @ 11:18PM

Those pictures disgust me.

And to think, their stinky, smelly feet are trampling the fields where America's Pastime is played!

BobRN| 10.27.12 @ 12:41AM

There is no reason for concern in my mind. Rather, there's reason to be pleased.

Islam may or may not be antithetical to democracy, but the vast majority of Muslim citizens in the U. S. are most certainly invested in the democratic system. They work, pay taxes, and vote. The more Muslims feel empowered to participate as equal citizens in our nation, the more they will embrace Western values of democracy and equality.

What I see is a peaceful gathering of thousands of men and women for worship, who are happy to have the opportunity to do so in Angels stadium. The fact that they're Muslim, in and of itself, is no reason for alarm.

JmsA| 10.27.12 @ 12:57AM

You're very naive--for you know not what they bring.

Minuteman78| 10.27.12 @ 7:08AM

Ah, it was around midnight, so you must have been drinking quite heavily. However, I don't think there's enough booze on the planet to alter my opinion that Islam is a mortal threat to Christianity, the United States and the world in general and there will be no peace until it is eradicated. Some 50-megaton warheads dropped on Tehran would be a good start.

They work, pay taxes and vote Muslim (i.e. Obama) as a disguise and a ruse for their real intenations. like the 20-odd that flew 4 planes into the ground in late 2011, or has everyone forgotten about that?

JP| 10.27.12 @ 5:04PM

And 70% of Muslims in Great Britain polled that they prefer Sharia over democracy. In Turkey, the citizens there overwhelmingly are voting step by step to replace their democracy with Sharia Law. Ditto for Muslims in France, Italy, and Germany.

Funny, how our Progressives here don't try to poll them here. I suppose they are to afraid of the results.

Cobalt| 10.27.12 @ 7:26AM

You might want to research, or just Google, about how many Hispanics and Latinos are converting to Islam. Very disconcerting, and scarey.

Frog in Uniform | 10.27.12 @ 8:28AM

Monsieur Ross, we have the same kind of problems in Frogland, along with Paris, Marseille, Strasbourg or Toulouse streets blocked by thousands of worshippers during Friday prayers.
You gotta acknowledge it even if you'll never get used to it! Islam is a disease that spread exponentially.

aware| 10.27.12 @ 8:34AM

How many Western nations has Islam taken over? Zero.
How many has Monetary Fascism burned down? Iceland, Ireland, Greece, Spain so far. Soon many others will go into the fire, including us.

Want to know? Or just want to keep swinging at straw men?

See this: http://www.zerohedge.com/news/.....-age-money

How about you, Ross? History will not be kind to the unwitting hired help who are being used to keep the truth from the light of day. Even if it is in ignorance.

All institutions have been absorbed into the yoke of the real controllers, the political, educational, mass media, entertainment, religious, and even "conservative". It took 40 long years.

The end game is upon us, within a year or two. Elections won't matter as you will soon see.

Frog in Uniform | 10.27.12 @ 9:51AM

Is this your vision of your country?
http://img88.xooimage.com/file.....90de74.gif

Bob K| 10.27.12 @ 8:20PM

Monetary Fascism? What in the hell is that? Except perhaps as an illustration of how meaningless the word "facism" has become.

aware| 10.28.12 @ 11:59AM

You admit your ignorance but will you read the article I linked?

I ask you Bob, and any others, while there are those who admit they are proud communists, or socialists, or even capitalists, but have you ever heard a fascist admit he is one? Wonder why?

JP| 10.27.12 @ 9:47PM

Your question reminds me what the leaders of Byzantium said in the 11th and 12th Centuries. Before Islam was stopped, the occupried all of what is today Yugoslavia, Hungary, and most of Austria.

In 2040, Muslims will be a near majority in France and Italy. Large minorities will exist in Germany (perhaps as much as 45%) and Spain. The UK will probably be 35% Muslim by 2050. And that will be done via their birthrates.

And what pray tell is Monetary Fascism? Go back to the Koz and rejoin your fellow Moonbats

aware| 10.28.12 @ 12:13PM

Read the link and stop being ignorant. And manipulated.

And the difference between now and then is invasion vs invitation. Your "leaders" are giving you what you are complaining about, not an invading army of Mohammedans. You are being lied to and given convenient scapegoats to focus on. Do you like being an unwitting puppet? Or are simple myths all you comprehend?

And look, newcomer, I've been posting here long before you showed up. Been part of the right wing conspiracy for decades. But I notice you Trotskyite neocons don't like those who think for themselves, do you. You just want your thinking done for you and getting in the line you are supposed to.

Now go back to the Weakly Standard and do what they tell you. Or back to Limbaugh for the simple myths.

Occam's Tool| 10.28.12 @ 12:56AM

Aware: there are multiple police "no-go" areas in Malmo, Paris, Brussels....it gets worse. Yup, Ross, you begin to see how my paranoid world view may be paranoid, but NOT delusional.

aware| 10.28.12 @ 12:22PM

Yeah, it's not like we have any of those areas here, do we. Police? Like the cannibals in uniforms? Do the police make you feel safe? Obviously we don't need to import monsters since we have them in uniform already.

A sick society is a dying society. The truth is it is not Islam but the Ruling Elite that is killing us. How you can be so tuned in to an alleged threat half a world away and so blind to real and proven threats right in your own back yard is stupefying.

Frog in Uniform | 10.27.12 @ 9:39AM

Monsieur Aware, you must live in a cave on another planet. Islam has absorbed my country, as it did with Belgium, Holland, Sweden and UK, it is making steady progress in UK, Germany, Spain and Italy. Whenever and wherever the media mention Ramadan, Aid El Kebir, Ishtar, fail to mention ethnic origin of criminals and forget to mention Easter or Kippur taking place, You should consider Islam has taken over.

aware| 10.27.12 @ 2:38PM

Your nation is going down the same rat hole Greece is now plunging into. When the Anglo-Dutch banking system of debt created fiat paper(which happens to be the system of every "developed" nation) goes up in flames you will think a nuclear war has hit.

The actual rulers, which have a stranglehold on your country and all the Western nations, are the ones who want what is happening to you, and the rest of us. Who opens the borders? Who is it that forbids assimilation? Pushes multiculturalism and relativism? Demand the YOU accept THEM? Tells you that "free trade" and globalism is "good" for you? Islam didn't invade you, it was invited. Just as here, only with different "immigrants".

Not Islam, it is your very own "rulers". And as here, they also buy you off with welfare and subsidies, a pittance compared to what is taken from you. The real enemy is here among us and the only god they worship is power and money.

Far more wide reaching and insidious, more sublime and subtle, more wicked and devious, than you can even imagine.

SaraB| 10.27.12 @ 9:41AM

Did the Billy Graham Cursades require the women to segregate from the men and put them BEHIND the men? Did the women at the Crusades cover themselves in tents so not to encourage the men to
rape them?

Albert Constantine Jr.| 10.27.12 @ 9:58PM

If I might develop the thought further, does the irony of the term "Crusade"( which originated over a millenium ago as an attempt to take back the Christian Holy Land following its conquest by Muslims, being used to describe an event at a stadium now overtaken by a mass of Muslims) occur to anyone else?

Truth to Power| 10.27.12 @ 9:45AM

Let's look at the positive side of the ledger from your perspective Ross. They are a reliable ally of secular America. They vote pro abortion rights. They vote pro gay marriage. They are hostile to the white Protestant roots of our country. Why this profile seems pretty similar to the typical Jewish American or really most hyphenated Americans. What could go wrong?

fmm| 10.27.12 @ 10:24AM

Was there a problem with the event? Such as the stadium not being paid for or riots in the streets? If not, then what is it that you are warning us about? The story was written on a positive note and the simple fact of having an event should not be a problem. If you have a specific set of issues here, why not state them?

JmsA| 10.27.12 @ 3:33PM

Yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service. -- John 16:2

Frog in Uniform | 10.27.12 @ 11:44AM

Monsieur FMM you would have the same attitude, had a KKK rally taken place at the stadium? You don't see where the problem is? Your country has been at war with muslim terrorism for years with thousands of victims and you don't even feel slightly ill at ease?
Does fmm stand for friggin' muslim murderer or what?

fmm| 10.27.12 @ 4:08PM

Funny. The point is that if people hold peaceful rallys then there is no lawful reason to get upset about it. The problem happens when they try to take over the innate laws of our country, and yes, I am dead set against forces trying to make Sharia law operative in parts of this country. There is a time and place for everything, but one needs to choose wisely.

darcy| 10.27.12 @ 1:21PM

Ross, and interested readers, I highly recommend that you read, study, and digest the work by Lawrence Auster titled "A Real Islam Policy for A Real America," which can be found here: http://www.amnation.com/vfr/archives/012935.html

I strongly endorse Mr. Auster's plan; indeed, I think it is the ONLY way to save the West, at least America, from the coming global caliphate -- that the internationalist Liberals, mostly Democrats but also many Republicans, seek to impose on us, slowly, ever so slowly, exactly like the frog who was boiled to death in the slowly simmering, then boiling hot water.

Oldefarte| 10.27.12 @ 2:06PM

THIS is precisely WHY this election on 11/6/12 is critical to this nation. Do your duty....vote the entire Republican ticket!!!!!!!!

cali| 10.27.12 @ 2:50PM

About days ago, her in california, a tv commercial started about introducing the koran; make it appealing beyond belief.
It's quite clever; one is asked to ask for the 'free' koran, educate, belief and practice islam -and one is promised to live a better life.

The push for 'sharia' and 'global caliphate' is underway; helped by obama, clinton and the MB in the white house, together with cair.

I hope, all american christians or non-christians reject this pedophile, war crime conqueror, anti-christian and jew hatred for what it is - bulls*it!

MyGirlFriday| 10.27.12 @ 3:27PM

Why didn't the LA Times credit the writer of this article? The photographer was credited. I also find it interesting that the photograph focuses on a man who looks like Osama Bin Laden.

Well...| 10.27.12 @ 3:33PM

Happened across a link to this blog...I have enjoyed reading several of the comments. Gives me a warm, cozy feeling just like I had back in Germany in the 1930's. Well, that wasn't nice but: Many folks in positions of power (economic, political, media) lift from Goebbels' playbook. Elements of which I've seen described as: 1) Avoid abstract ideas - appeal to the emotions. 2) Constantly repeat just a few ideas. Use stereotyped phrases. 3) Give only one side of the argument. 4) Continuously criticize your opponents. 5) Pick out one special "enemy" for special vilification. It's a sucker's game and we're often the suckers. Not taking a swipe here at good, honest people--just the b@stards that seek to manipulate them for their own ends.

Frog in Uniform | 10.27.12 @ 3:58PM

Well... you're dangerously close to getting your Godwin points. We're not being threatened by our own imagination. I know for a fact what it's like to slowly become a second class citizen in my own country, just because a conspiracy of corrupt social democrat freemasons has decided that, Rodney King like, we should "all get along" whatever the gap between our educations and our cultures, and that all religions share the same values. You believe you're seeing nazis in our comments? I see them in that stadium and you should do too instead of pointing to our forefingers.

Well...| 10.27.12 @ 6:45PM

Godwin points. Had to Wikipedia that one. Yuck. Thank you. Not actually wanting to call anyone here an actual Nazi...nope. Yes I do think a lot of emotion in people gets stirred up by folks who can profit from it...and some of the comments here seem like the result of that. For those that come by their opinions honestly, that has to be respected. I simply disagree with most of the comments I've read here. I'll let you have the last word...If I continue on it would be a troll.

Frog in Uniform | 10.27.12 @ 7:45PM

And Well... you're obviously a gentleman, and I apologize for my acquired roughness. Because I see the same mutants I have to deal with on a daily basis, invading your great country, I tend to forget that it is not mine and you are perfectly free to see those people as a blessing for your nation, besides you have the 2nd Amendment and we don't. And sooner or later it will make a difference.

Occam's Tool| 10.28.12 @ 12:58AM

See how Dearborn Michigan Muslims treat Jews and Christians. it is the one city that I know of that has a Muslim majoruty. Google Dearborn and Muslims and Jews and Christians.

Occam's Tool| 10.28.12 @ 1:02AM

http://www.thegatewaypundit.co.....gan-video/

Mr. Well...this is Dearborn, Michigan, USA, 2012. A Muslim predominant city in the USA.

I don't think the word "fascist" means what you think it means. The Muslims fought in SS uniform in WWII.

darcy| 10.27.12 @ 11:11PM

"A Real Islam Policy for A Real America," by Lawrence Auster. Read it.

Read Diana West, regularly; she has her own blog. Read Andrew McCarthy; he writes at pajamasmedia and elsewhere. Keep informed.

darcy| 10.27.12 @ 11:13PM

And don't neglect gatesofvienna and galliawatch. Don't be ostriches, too fearful to know the truth.

fmm| 10.28.12 @ 6:33AM

The real enemy here is the progressive liberal mind set which attempts to remove Christianity from the public square. When there is a vacumn, something will rush in to fill it. Since progressives are in tune to the teachings of Islam, they will not lift any grievances against them. This has been the problem in Europe, and the USA is not far behind. I sympathize with those who express anti-Muslim comments, but suggest that they bring whatever forces they command to bear against the progressives who are behind these issues. Winning the war against progressives will stop the Muslim penetration of our society.

Controse| 10.29.12 @ 9:51PM
