To Coin a Phrase

“The Giants win the pennant — the Giants win the pennant” — to coin a phrase.

So we have a World Series where the National League representative tied for the third best record in the league, facing an American League representative with the sixth best record in its league. The play-offs have taken over the season. Last year, the team with the 8th best record in baseball was crowned Champion. As a result, I no longer care about the World Series and only view the season as an exhibition.

I think most of the veteran players agree. Most don't mind going home in September. Bud Selig, the owners, and players union really have fouled the game up.

And unfortunately, it is not limited to baseball. The NBA and NFL have devalued the season for years. Now college football is following suit with conference playoffs which are now sinking that sport as well.

to coin another: "who gives a ratzass? who gives a ratzass?"
