The San Francisco Giants have won their second NL pennant in
three years decisively defeating the St. Louis Cardinals 9-0 in
Game 7 of the NLCS in front of the home fans. They clinched it in
the pouring rain and the Giants’ faithful could not have cared
less.
And why should they? The Giants came back from a 3-1 deficit to
defeat the defending World Series champion Cardinals. This after
coming back from a 2-0 deficit against the Cincinnati Reds in the
NLDS.
Giants second baseman Marco Scutaro was named the NLCS MVP. He
batted .500 (14 for 28) with 4 RBI. He also caught the final out on
a pop up by Matt Holliday who slid hard into Scutaro in Game 1 of
the NLCS. Not bad for a guy who was toiling with the last place
Colorado Rockies in mid-season and last year was part of the Boston
Red Sox collapse. This will be Scutaro’s first World Series
appearance.
The Giants will face the Detroit Tigers in the World Series
starting Wednesday night in San Francisco. Despite the long history
of both teams, it is the first time the Tigers and Giants have
matched up in the Fall Classic.
I think the Tigers have had too much rest (as was the case when
they faced the Cardinals in the 2006 World Series). So I say the
Giants take it in five.

Aaron,
I have to disagree. Just look at one fact: the MVP was Marco Scutaro? Marco typically gets eaten up by Tigers' pitching. When he played in the AL, Marco was a .240 - .250 hitter, with the better pitching in the AL.

Good!
At least 2 division winners will meet in the WS this year.

As a longtime Dodger fan, I have to say ... The Giants were amazing! Congrats on two great comeback series!

Too much rest won't stop Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder. Too much rest won't wear out Justin Verlander's arm.
I pick Tigers to win.
