Absolutely in line with what I predicted her just five days ago (this news is step one of what I expect to be a three-step process), Iran has agreed to direct “talks” with the Obama administration. I call BS on this. This is nothing other than an Iranian attempt to bolster Obama’s re-election chances. It is a cynical, dirty game being played by both Obama and Iran — the same Iran whose “Green Revolution” died when Obama refused to say even a single word in favor of the pro-Western reformers who gathered in the tens of thousands against Iranian repression and corruption,

As for this being bogus, the New York Times notes that “There is still a chance the initiative could fall through, even if Mr. Obama is re-elected. Iran has a long history of using the promise of diplomacy to ease international pressure on it.” Of course. In fact, this could even be counterproductive: “Even if the two sides sit down, American officials worry that Iran could prolong the negotiations to try to forestall military action and enable it to complete critical elements of its nuclear program, particularly at underground sites.”

Israel isn’t happy, either, reports the Times. Nor should it be happy at such a cynical and counterproductive maneuver.

Finally: Curious, isn’t it, that this “agreement” comes just in time for Monday’s presidential debate on foreign policy? Methinks it is an attempt to distract attention from the growing scandal related to Obama’s handling of matters in Libya, so that Iran, instead of Libya, draws most of the questions from a compliant Bob Schieffer.

(One last note: I’m not always a big NYT fan, to say the least, but this particular story is solid throughout. That’s no surprise: It was co-written by one of the NYT’s best, my old college friend and colleague Mark Landler.)

Yes, it is obvious that they are attempting to influence the elections...both..this corrupt administration and the Iranians. Of course, they will deny it as they have already have....
If this does not work, there is a buzz that Allred is gearing up with another false witness to accuse either Romney or Ryan of some alleged misconduct. This exactly why we need to stop pussy footing around and expose them as the liars and manipulators they are...
Quin, they do not play by any rules of any kind..this is what all Leftist have been trained to do. By any means necessary is their motto. they will keep doing it until we stop letting them get away with it and use every means at OUR disposal to expose them, their lies, their lack of ethics, and their misdeeds. Their essential credibility has to be destroyed as they have none.

When are we going to fight back with fire?

I have a slightly different take on the Iran gambit. Iran may be playing the Obama administration, hoping they will jump in with quick concessions just so they can claim credit for an agreement before the election. If this is the case, expect the pressure for direct talks to peter out after the election.

The White House has said this NYT story is not true. No such talks have been agreed upon.

...and if you don't trust the Obama White House, WHO DO YOU TRUST?!?!?!?

" ... this particular story is solid throughout."

Not so much:

"The White House scrambled late Saturday to deny a New York Times report claiming Iran has agreed to meet directly with U.S. officials to discuss its nuclear program, sending New York Times editors rushing to quietly but substantially revise their initial reporting on a key foreign policy issue for the second time in as many months."

The best negotiating tool is an EMP that knocks out Iran's electrical system.

There never is going to be a war with Iran and there will be negotiations if Romney or Obama is elected. Iran has no nuclear weapons program and the world and the American people want no more wars in the Middle East. Both candidates have said they are for settling this through negotiations. I expect this debate coming up to be about who wants to bring the troops home faster. We don't need another world war and worldwide depression brought on by an attack on Iran.

Okay, let me play the Devil's Advocate sort of here with this. Why would Iran agree to anything coming forth from this administration and its POTUS? If the implied thesis is accurate [and I agree wholeheartedly that it is thus], then there is possibly an indirect association between an Arab country now producing nuclear weapons that the rest of the free world going on here. Additionally and possibly also, there was also an indirect association going on that resulted in a payback of sorts for the killing of UBL in Benghazi on 9/11/12. In my DA status, is there also an association that was representated in a monetary financing of a future leader of the free world within ultra-expensive PRIVATE EDUCATIONAL SCHOOLS from elementary through law/legal? Is/was there also a funding [and is it continuing today with the untold $trillions in suspicious campaign financing from foreign/untracable sources of same politician who now sits at the height of power within the world? What did 11/4/08 actually represent within total/complete truth, and if 11/6/12 results in a continuation of said truth, will that mean a annihilation of this nation????????????????????
