The Spectacle Blog

There will be lots more to write on this topic, but here’s a snippet at this link: After Congress passed the RESTORE Act to direct any monies from a federal lawsuit against BP (related to the oil rig blowout) to the affected Gulf States according to a formula set in the act, the Obama administration, as is its wont, is trying to make an end run against a law the president himself signed, by reaching a legal settlement with BP that directs the money elsewhere so the feds have control of it.

This is an outrage. My own local congressman, Jo Bonner of Mobile, AL, who is a bulldog when riled up in a righteous cause, is leading an effort to stop the administration’s lawless money grab. More on the issue at this link. And more to come soon. But when I saw the Huff Post feature this story prominently, (the link in the first graph), I thought it was time to at least highlight it now while planning to do more with it later.

How many times will this administration try to bypass the letter and/or spirit of the laws of the land?

The Gulf states seem to be doing just fine, Quin. Iran, Qatar, UAE, Bahrain...

It's more material for anti-Obama ads. Put real people in ads, who would benefit from a pipeline project, or state citizens controlling their own financial affairs and rebuilding after disasters, and real people dreading govt control over their health. Even the kids are rebelling against Obama's food-nazis.
Romney did great in debate emphasizing the American-way of individuals making their own choices and retaining control over their lives. Reinforce that with ads.

Why is this not surprising, that this administration would attempt to steal [oh BORROW no doubt] this settlement money? They would never consciously do such a thing, right? No, they would never withhold oil drilling permits to oil companies in order to satisfy their environmental supporters either right? They would never disallow the Keystone Pipeline from being built for the same reasons, right? They would never turn their backs on enforcement of Federal immigration laws in order to pad their Democrat election results, right? They would never support homosexual marriage for the same reasons, right? WAKE THE F**K UP PEOPLE before its too late!!!!!!!!!!

PS: While on this subject, I'd love to know what happened to the original $80 million settlement that BP agreed to after this disaster. Is it part of this current settlement, or was it used to pay claimants along the Gulf Coast? I seem to remember a $20 million figure as the amount of their payout, and if true, then what happened to the other $60 million [did it also disappear to this administration's pockets slight-of-hand-wise]???????

Why does this surprise anyone? Those electoral votes aren't going to him in November anyway, so why should he care?
