So who takes this seriously?

Other than the usual suspects.

The real question?

Why isn’t the unemployment rate at 5.2%? Which was what Team Obama promised in 2009 — if only Congress passed their stimulus.

Wait! Congress did pass the stimulus! And the unemployment rate is today 7.8?

What happened? Obamanomics is what happened. These numbers are a double-loser for Obama.

First they remind of all those Rosy Scenarios — if only Obama gets his way, unemployment will drop like a stone yada-yada. It soared instead.

Second, this White House has had more credibility problems than Lindsay Lohan. The Internet video killed our ambassador, GM is doing just fine (but no, we can’t let the government sell its stock because the taxpayers would take a bath), Iran won’t get The Bomb, the world will love America because Obama had a Muslim father who became an atheist. And last but not least — if anyone disagrees they have to be a racist!

Unemployment makes it under 7.8% the month before the election? Surprise, surprise, surprise.

Pssssst! Listen! I gotta bridge in Brooklyn I can sell ya… a bargain. Call me.

Figures don't lie but liars figure.

As mark Twain once said " there are little white lies, then there are your every day garden variety lies, then there are damnable lies, and finally there are Hilda Solis' statistics. Well... maybe Mark didn't say Hida Solis, but, just inferred it.

What was the number of people who dropped off the rolls of the unemployed because their benefits ran out or the quit looking for work?

Fudging the numbers after a blowout debate? I'm shocked! Shocked I tell you!

The Left will defiantly proclaim this a victory for Obama. But again this is the Liberal motto: Celebrate Mediocrity.

More people drop out of workforce. C'mon.

Here comes the pain: Ryan/Biden debate and then Friend of Bibi debates Man Who Let Our Ambassador Get Forcibly Sodomized. Fun stuff.

As Canadian Mountie Dudley Doright said many years ago in a "Rocky and Bullwinkle" commentary hour: "If it's in the newspaper it must be trooooo!"

Regarding the unemployment statistics, with apologies to Dewayne Johnson; Can you smell what Barack is cookin?

Deep inside the NewsMax story about the unemployment rate dropping to under 8% it did mention that the job increase was mostly due to part time employment and more government jobs. It was a bit irking though that the supposedly conservative NewsMax buried this deep inside the article. That should have been the lead.

I think it is reasonable to take the 7.8% and just state it is not a good number at all. Which is the painful reality. Full employment levels may not return for a decade.

The peculiar thing is to look at Germany. That country got a brief unemployment level hit in 2009 and then it went in rapid progression to 20 year lows in unemployment.

The bottom line: if, as a country, you make stuff and industry is still 30% of your economy, it is not so difficult to compete with China, even with high wages.

America has to re-industrialize and make stuff they can sell to other people (around the world), not everyone can be a stockbroker or a real estate agent. The US computer industry has shockingly dismantled its manufacturing since the dotcom crash in 2000.
