Mitt Romney is coming on strong in tonight’s debate. He’s constantly leaning forward, looking and gesticulating at the president. President Obama has spent many minutes looking wistfully down at his podium. If you’re not at a TV, this image — from the RNC’s Tumblr page — says it all.

The left will declare the debate a draw, though no doubt some will declare The One the winner despite their lying eyes.

I do think Gov Romney is doing well and making the President angry. I will say though, the President is taking notes, not just looking down, as good as that sounded. Romney is coming out strong and needs to continue that.

I loved the "maybe I need a new accountant,Mr. President, but I have been in business over 20 years, and there is NO US tax deduction for moving a business overseas."

Nice punch.

I knew Romney was no slouch, having watched him debate Ted Kennedy, but tonight he was really on his game. Obama's very fortunate that
Romney is a decent man.

Pecos Pete| 10.3.12 @ 10:26PM

Romney is doing very well. Obama is defensive and somewhat stumbling.

ayrnieu| 10.3.12 @ 10:32PM

And glowering hatefully whenever Romney spoke, so blatantly that someone obviously told him part way through to smile more.

Simon Templar| 10.3.12 @ 10:27PM

Romney is doing very well...showing command of the subjects and presidential poise.
The fraud is falling on his face and is clearly exhausted, spinning, and can not keep up.

Do not expect this to be perceived by or admitted by the MSM, which will declare the Fraud, the winner, no matter what...

I've been critical of Romney and have gone after many of you who have not been objective about issues, but Romney is absolutely trouncing Obama. He is showing more leadership than I have seen. Now I was a Romney supporter in 2008 and hated McCain and especially Palin, but he has performed better tonight than I have ever seen. Kudos...

Paul McGrath| 10.3.12 @ 10:56PM

Hey Fiscal. **** ***!

Paul McGrath| 10.3.12 @ 11:08PM

Hey, Fiscal, I really hate to sound ingracious, you pompous ass, but **** ***.

Pecos Pete| 10.3.12 @ 10:30PM

Obama does one thing well, he looks at the camera and thus appears to be appealing to the viewer. Romney, not so much.

C. Vernon Crisler | 10.3.12 @ 10:31PM

Romney was articulate and smooth and kept hammering Obama on the economy. That's what he needs to keep doing. His weakest moments were on trying to contrast Obamacare with Romneycare. However, on everything else, he probably set Independents at ease and gave them a reason to vote for him.

ayrnieu| 10.3.12 @ 10:31PM

Is anyone live- blogging this? All I can find are incoherent twitter feeds. I just want a single person to listen to the whole thing and deliver a running commentary.

Pecos Pete| 10.3.12 @ 10:34PM

Romney's closing statement was excellent and his eye contact with the camera couldn't have been better.

Simon Templar| 10.3.12 @ 10:35PM

There you go..the MSM declaring a draw, when it was clear Romney kicked his lying, fraudulent, and obviously incompetent ass.

bluecollarbytes| 10.3.12 @ 10:35PM

Romney cleaned Obama's clock hands down. For the serious voter this November, there's only one choice and it ain't the messiah.

JmsA| 10.3.12 @ 10:38PM

The long faces at MSNBC are to die for; they're even criticizing Obama.

chuck| 10.3.12 @ 10:49PM

The empty chair looked like he would rather be anywhere else but at the podium facing Romney.

Come January, he can play as much golf as he wants. O is toast.

Pecos Pete| 10.3.12 @ 11:00PM

As moderator I thought Jim Leher was neutral. Surprising.

Simon Templar| 10.3.12 @ 11:07PM

Pete. He was not.
He was just more subtle about it in his attempts to interrupt Romney, prompt Obama, and give Obama more time to answer.
Think about it.

Pecos Pete| 10.3.12 @ 11:15PM

Simon, after thinking about it, I've decided your comment is appropriate. The thing that was surprising to me was that Romney was not cowed by Leher and spoke over Leher ... forcing extended time for rebuttal.

Simon Templar| 10.3.12 @ 11:04PM

You even have Fox News calling it a draw ( no knock out punches?) and echoing the MSM TV networks. His clocked was cleaned and he was shown to be the angry, empty suited, demagogue that he is. The comments from his sycophants like the NYT journalists and Bill Mayer and others tell a different story. They were shocked, disappointed, and called it a calamity for their leader.
This truly is a strange world we live in.. truth is hard to find...particularly in the media world.

CJW| 10.3.12 @ 11:11PM

I watched MSNBC for five minutes, and Chris Matthews looks like he lost that tingle. When the tingle goes, what's left for O? All the lefty loons on MSNBC were angry at Obama, and Tingles actually said that O has to watch MSNBC every night so he knows what to say.

JmsA| 10.3.12 @ 11:28PM

The knock out punch was the continued beat-down, and death from a thousand cuts. This will reverberate, no doubt. Quite a bit of what the media has for so long endeavored to protect Obama from was thrown right back at him. Had it been anyone else, no doubt I would have felt sympathy for him, but I have to admit I enjoyed it quite a bit, for no one deserved a serving of whoopass as much as this guy. Can't wait for the upcoming installments, including that between the plagiarist and the whipper-snapper.
