Vote Fraud is Real

John Fund and Hans von Spakovsky are on the case. I explain here.

A taste:

Von Spakovsky, meanwhile, devastatingly refuted the leftist arguments against laws requiring voters to show identification at the polls. Critics say the laws make it too difficult to vote, especially for minorities. Yet, as von Spakovsky explained, when voter-ID laws went into effect in Indiana and Georgia for the 2008 elections – after federal judges noted that plaintiffs could not produce a single witness who would be unable to vote because of the new law – minority turnout increased by far more in those states than it did elsewhere in the country.

The reality, von Spakovsky explained, is that it is the corruption of fraud, not ID laws, that deters voting. Consider: After a series of 11 election-fraud convictions in Greene County, Alabama last decade, minority turnout went up. As one elderly black woman explained, she cast a ballot for the first time in years because “her vote was finally going to count.”

One line from Fund that did not make it into my column, but that is worth worrying about, was this: To win an election these days (especially if you are on the right), “You need a margin beyond litigation.”

It should not come to a battle of lawyers. Reform is needed now.

YEAH MAN,,,What aprofound revelation. Reminds me of the book, "A Child's Garden of Grass"; ALTHOUGH YOU MIGHT NOT LIKE PICKLES, IT IS THE ONLY THING YOU CAN DO WITH CUCUMBERS. JFK got ELECTED by DEAD PEOPLE from the graveyards of the county of residence for, HISTORY'S BIGGGEST FRAUD. Course even that is suspect as his SS # is from Conneticut.

A judge in Texas ruled that the state cannot take the dead off the voter rolls.

Ryan| 9.27.12 @ 3:27PM

Wow, that's a massive oversimplification. Part of the process being used was questionable - there were plenty of people coming out of the woodwork as well who weren't dead.

I support practically all the voter ID efforts, but e have to make sure we don't oversimplify matters.

Voter ID opponents rational implies that the minorities are not smart enough or capable enough to procure an ID.

How prejudiced how racist...

Conservatives (should put that in quotes) are wasting a lot of energy on voter fraud, when they should return to their traditional roll of questioning just who should have the franchise.

The arch-liberal John Stuart Mills was stronger stuff on the franchise then a modern day Beltway "conservative"--just one example, but if you take a government check, you don't get to vote.

Oldefarte| 9.28.12 @ 10:48AM

"John Sturat Mills"? WTF credibility does he have with this argument? Let quote Jules Vergne, Keats, or Browning next, huh???????

C Bowen | 9.28.12 @ 4:05PM

You sure have an affection for defending the lamest and cowardly of "conservative" bloggers.

Oldefarte| 9.29.12 @ 3:45PM

You sure have an affection for proclaiming """""stupidly""""""!!!!!

I been trying to tell you, you underestimate not only voter fraud, but the effect of State handouts, the utter corruption of almost every "institution" that's supposed to underpin society(or that did in the days before the State took that over too), and most importantly, the terminal idiocy of the Americus Boobus.

Not to mention a pathetic candidate(he's NOT Obama!), a lame "message"(we won't be half as bad as Obama), and the great brains at Conservative, Inc. that don't seem to have ever figured how politics works(hint: think criminal conspiracies).

"reform". Now I know you're not in touch with reality. Voter fraud is part and parcel of "democracy" wherever and whenever it rears its ugly head. All the way back to Athens.

Too bad we cannot obtain Blogger ID Laws, so that we could eliminate brain-dead, Acorn-infested illegals such as this UNDER-AWARE for our existence!!!!!!!

JudithAnn| 9.28.12 @ 6:50AM

I just read an article that says that the U.S. is one of the very few voting countries around the world that does NOT require an I.D. to vote, including Greece. Conclusion? Corruption rules.

Oldefarte| 9.28.12 @ 10:54AM

Voter ID Laws? Ah come on, we all that that is nothing but RACISM, DISCRIMINATION, DISENFRANCHISEMENT, GENTRIFICATION and the like, right? I mean, possibly deny them the RIGHT to vote, when they are IRRESPONSIBLE in their actions, words, deeds, etc? There is no definitive connection between RIGHTS and RESPONSIBILITIES, huh? Why not bestow rights to those demonstrating their irresponsibilities every second/minute/day/month/year of their miserable lives? Give them their 'rights' but for GD sake does hold them responsible for anything, which would be racist........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RCV| 9.28.12 @ 4:31PM

Yes, voter fraud is real, and being perpetrated on a widespread scale by Republicans in Florida, as reported today.

Nick| 9.28.12 @ 11:30PM

Trafficking in half baked rumors, eh, RCV?

Meanwhile, what is your current position on the cover-up being perpetrated by the Appeaser-in-Chief's regime over what they knew and when they knew it?
Vis-a-vis the murders of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, consular official Sean Smith, and former Navy SEALs/private security contractors Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, that is.

Care to revise your previous statement?

Oldefarte| 9.29.12 @ 3:49PM

I have a news flash for you and yours: connect the dots on the avoidance of enforcement of Federal immigration laws by ICE/HS and the community organizing, Acorn style, of non-voter ID fraud efforts at the local level!!!!!
