The Spectacle Blog

An Illinois LGBT group is claiming that Chik-fil-A will cease giving money to groups which support traditional marriage and oppose same sex marriage.

This claim is based on a letter submitted to The Civil Rights Agenda (TCRA) by the WinShape Foundation, a non-profit organization funded by Chik-fil-A, indicating they would reconsider who would be allocated funds in the future. The letter was apparently sufficient for Chicago Alderman Joe Moreno to drop his opposition to Chik-fil-A further expanding its business in the Windy City.

Yet something seems fowl about this whole thing. If TCRA’s claims are true then I would like to hear it from Dan Cathy himself. TCRA did not release the text of the letter sent by WinShape nor did it indicate who signed the letter. So something doesn’t quite smell right to me.

Given the overwhelming public support of Chik-fil-A in response to the heavyhandedness of local governments in Chicago and here in Boston; an about face would be a slap in the face to those who stood with Chik-fil-A this past summer.

I just can’t see Chik-fil-A being bullied into surrendering its First Amendment rights.

At this point, I’m not ready to call Chik-fil-A chicken.

UPDATE: As it turns out, my instincts were correct. (H/T Mark Krikorian at NRO).

Then what?

Will CFA join Home Depot and sponsor and fund Gay Rights Marches with children? The kind of thing Romney endorsed as Givernor

too bad KFC can't put a little more effort into making chicken that doesn't taste nasty; Bojangles, along with Hardee's, beats them by a country mile-Bojangles even has better sides

If the Gay Gestapo and their bullying thought police prevail on this and cause them to knuckle under it will be another reminder of how Freedom of Religion is on the endgangered list.

Actually, it was confirmed. See Weasel Zippers. They are no longer the "cock of the walk," they've "shown the White Feather" and ran. They laid an egg. They commited a "fowl" deed.

In short, they're chicken.

so you fell for the MSM line, too? i can't believe how many people have been conned by a crooked Chicago alderman who only had to recite the ACTUAL company stance on discrimination and corporate giving in order to gin up a controversy

If I'm reading sam1953's comment correctly, he's right: The company spells their name "Chick-fil-A," not "Chik-fil-A." Your use of the latter may be deliberate, and it's certainly not uncommon, but in case it's unintentional I thought I should mention it. I appreciate your contributions to this site.
