Rick Santorum Flays Obama

Sen. Rick Santorum gave a very strong statement in support of Mitt Romney on foreign policy at the Values Voters Summit. One great line, describing the misguided message Barack Obama has sent to the Middle East: “If you are a friend of the United States, you are on your own. If you are an enemy of the United States — let’s talk.”

Good for Rick. One of the issues that worried me about Romney (in an addition to him not being a conservative and having a wishy-washy record on positions) is that he doesn't defend himself or his positions well. And I don't see him doing so in the general campaign. Rick was great at it in the primaries. I wish Romney could be as an effective speaker as either Rick Santorum or Newt Gingrich. Fortunately, we have Paul Ryan. He will need to make the case more than the usual VP nominee does.

Mike G| 9.15.12 @ 6:29PM

I agree. If Romney was a half-decent speaker, he would be trouncing Obama in the polls. While he shows flashes of oratory ability, his overall speaking skills need much improvement. He's very ho-hum. He's got to start showing some spark in every speech.

Mimi | 9.16.12 @ 3:20PM

Both Romney and Ryan have to start defending themselves vigorously....The Dem's narrative is
vicious and grossly untrue especially when they really make points!...ie Ryan now " LyinRyan" ...that should have been defended in depth and continued making them look bad! ...Now this week Romney blasted and a biggy made when he was coming out about the administrations dumb remark and apology. His most courageous moment ever, just claiming our freedoms and outrage at the radicals/terrorist.
With the trip to Vegas as a major lack of judgement.... Mitt should have gone up 10 points!
In Ryans case that speech was a winner....the libs...took the shine off the PRIZE! They have to give them a sharp putdown on this stuff...WISE UP...You are not dealing with "good guys" these guys have some low-lifes calling the shots .

Quin - please see this piece at Breitbart

“Hunt told Breitbart News that the new State Department Rules of Engagement for Libya, approved and signed by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton since the 2011 fall of Khadafi’s regime, severely compromised the safety and security of murdered Ambassador Stevens and all American diplomatic staff in Libya.

He also stated that the decision not to staff Benghazi with Marines was made by Secretary of State Clinton when she attached her signature to the State Department Rules of Engagement for Libya document. Breitbart News has subsequently learned that under those rules of engagement, Secretary Clinton prohibited Marines from providing security at any American diplomatic installation in Libya.” more at the link…

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-G.....t-Benghazi

The MSM will burry this, our military, diplomats and staff serving overseas need to know they are on their own while Valerie Jarett gets Secret Service Protection.

The rules of engagement our troops deal with everyday is disgraceful, voters need to know the truth of what is happening. Santorum speaking out is not enough, the media must be exposed for covering Obama's foreign policy disaster. Our Administration played a large role in the rise of the MB.

Bob K| 9.15.12 @ 7:25PM

If this information got into the general news scene it would be very damaging to the Democrats so don't look for it to be pushed by the press, including the Conservative Press which like the so called conservatives who were elected to Congress in 2010 will play along with the Democrats to get along with them. And I include the so-called
"Conservatives" who write for this publication!

If the Republican Speaker of the House, the Ohio Crybaby, had any nuts he would be setting up hearings now over this scandal which Obama and Clinton perpetrated.

Indy| 9.16.12 @ 12:04PM

The word is starting to get out, thank goodness for foreign press / twitter and blogs - The BBC reported, via Free Republic:

"The US consulate in Benghazi, where the US ambassador to Libya died in an attack on Tuesday, was not given the standard security contract offered to many American diplomatic missions in the Middle East, private military contractors have told the BBC.

The consulate’s walls were breached in just 15 minutes"
http://www.thegatewaypundit.co.....ate-video/

and then there's this ( I have to admit, I didn't know this until I read this post) -

"Last December the Obama Administration pushed a UN resolution that banned criticism of Islam. No member state called for a recorded vote on the text, which was as a result adopted “by consensus.”

The resolution, an initiative of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), is based on one passed by the U.N.’s Human Rights Council in Geneva last spring. The State Department last week hosted a meeting to discuss ways of “implementing” it."

We must get the word out and light up the phones in DC on Monday! (sidebar - Hillary's bid for 2016 is over, there is no way she recovers from this).

You don't have to agree with Beck or Freedom Works to take advantage of a new tool just made available, I'm going to try it, check it out to see how it works.

RCV| 9.15.12 @ 9:20PM

What a clever guy. No wonder he was so successful in the primaries, not to mention his Senate run.

Truth to Power| 9.16.12 @ 9:44AM

This from a guy who has bankrupted his state and country. Santorum made a perfect description of the big O's foreign policy. After sucking up to Russia, Iran and radical muslims, he has nothing to show and allies need to worry. He promised that the oceans would stop rising and that muslim hostilities would ease. It is time for a change. Say hi to your composite family, RCV and make sure your boyfriend wears protection.

RCV| 9.16.12 @ 12:38PM

The only perceptive thing Santorum had to say was that "smart people will never be on our side."

Truth to Power| 9.16.12 @ 10:57PM

This from a smart guy that has bankrupted his ... You are not that smart RCV. You are a functional idiot. You like credentials but you have no sense. At least with fascist-like court support you have gay marriage of sorts and fantastic government worker retirements, like Greece. Enjoy them while they last. Your nieces and nephews can teach their children and grandchildren about their fruity uncle who helped to ruin their state.

Dimitry_Aleksandrovich| 9.16.12 @ 2:08AM

It's funny because the only people worse than Barrack Obama on foreign policy are neo-con chicken hawks like Santorum and Romney. Ron Paul is the only one with a sane foreign policy and exactly for that reason he establishment considers him persona non-grata and ridicules him and calls him a fanatic.

spike59| 9.17.12 @ 6:00AM

Dimitry, or Clint, or whoever you are......give it up with the Rontard stupidity; the Tinfoil Hat Tinhorn has been utterly, totally, and publicly rejected as a viable candidate for office-EVER

Dimitry_Aleksandrovich| 9.17.12 @ 2:23PM

Spike I'm 31 years old and have been a Republican since I was 18. With the exception of Ron Paul (who is retiring) or Buchanan running on a GOP ticket I will not be voting Republican again. I would rather Barrack Obama who's foreign policy is nearly as bad as the Republicans win than neo-con mad men end up in office fan the flames (if not pour gasoline on the flames) of war throughout the world.

Occam's Tool| 9.16.12 @ 2:19AM

Dmitry: your home country sucks as badly as you do. If Putin realized the Islamic problem goes further than Chechnya, Russia would be doing better now. Fortunately, Russian women are aborting Russian babies and Russian men have life expectancies shorter and shorter each year (now they are down to 58), so your people will cease to be a problem hopefully in my lifetime, by their own hands.

Ron Paul is a scumbag, an antisemitic pig, a dope supporter, and a coward.

Dimitry_Aleksandrovich| 9.16.12 @ 2:58AM

Once again I was born here in America and you know that if I said things about your people as vile as you speak of Russians that you would scream that I am an anti-semite. You know that to be true don't you Occam, because you are a coward that hides behind the victim status of being a Jew and then proceeds to say things just as hateful and racist as you claim all Russians, Arabs and Persians are. The fact that you are a Jew won't save you from me. I don't really give a damn who you are...you are a certifiable jerkoff and that should be clear to anyone who reads your posts.

aware| 9.16.12 @ 11:52AM

Here you go, Occam:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?f.....BJYSWHfq4E

Just goes to show who is right and who is wrong, again. But that obviously don't mean squat to the Americanus Boobus, does it?

Dimitry_Aleksandrovich| 9.16.12 @ 3:05AM

With that said I don't blame you for being pro-Israel. If I was a Jew I would be pro-Israel too, but I am not a Jew I am an Orthodox Christian which means that in the case of Syria I stand with Assad because the Israelis and Americans policy of supporting the Sunni Islamist FSA would result in ethnic cleansing against my people in Syria. Russia is on the right side of that conflict as is China and Iran. Israel and the U.S. and everyone else that wants a holocaust for Syrian Christians can go to hell. Long live Assad and down with the Wahhabist scum and their degenerate Western allies and the Zionists who would bring him down. That's where I stand Occam. I am not ashamed of it.

Dimitry_Aleksandrovich| 9.16.12 @ 3:28AM

Last but not least let it be known that any Republican left in me is not a Ron Paul Republican, but a Pat Buchanan Republican. I voted for Ron Paul twice, almost solely based on his foreign policy record but my politics is much more closely aligned with Pat Buchanan rather than Ron Paul.

spike59| 9.17.12 @ 6:01AM

DA, when you admit that you've voted for DrNutcase twice, you're just confirming your own stupidity-go the frack away, 'tard...

aware| 9.17.12 @ 10:34AM

See the link above, dumbass.

spike59| 9.17.12 @ 12:18PM

oh, golly gee...what's the next "amazing" Ronpaul prediction: water will make paper get soggy????? talk about a DUMBASS....

Dimitry_Aleksandrovich| 9.17.12 @ 2:19PM

I'm surely finished with the Republican party. My fellow countrymen are so blinded by their self proclaimed political bent (Conservative/Liberal) and party loyalty (Republican/Democrat) that they are unable to think beyond the talking points given to them by CNN, Fox News, their favorite blog or talk radio. People in this country are largely unable to think for themselves and are extremely immigrant when it comes to what is happening in the Middle East and why. When I learned that W. Bush was trying to get Jeaque Chirac on board for the invasion of Iraq by telling him that GOG and MAGOG are closing in on Israel and the US and its European allies must defend Israel that is all I needed to know. We elected George W. Bush a dimwitted Evangelical who believes that we are living in the End Times and we must destroy the enemies of Israel. Does anyone understand how dangerous a position we are in. Bush had the launch codes that could have ended civilization as we know it and he's talking about the books of Ezekiel and Revealations as if he was reading the Washington Post.

Dimitry_Aleksandrovich| 9.17.12 @ 2:19PM

Meant to say extremely "ignorant" not immigrant.

Martin kzovich| 9.16.12 @ 7:13AM

At this point I wonder what American's are thinking about the Anti_American Rioting they see on TV.

I cannot superimpose my views on an entire nation
but I will say this--no matter what excuse Obama uses the vast majority will view him as weak. Even Bush did not have scenarios.

Oldefarte| 9.16.12 @ 11:00AM

He and the rest of these SIT ON THEIR HANDS/POLITICALLY CORRECT REPUBLICANS had better WAKE UP before it's NO "MORNING IN AMERICA" MOMENT on 11/7/12 and this country is swirling down the financial/fiscal/ecomonic/monetary toilet bowl forever [and never to be witnessed again]. To my knowledge, the one and only Republican politicians with the guts/courage to tru;ly open his/her mouth and tell the TRUTH goes by the names of PALIN, BACHMANN AND GINGRICH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

aware| 9.16.12 @ 12:02PM

Just keep putting your faith in getting the "right" guy so you can have another go at top-down "solutions". That's sure worked wonders so far.

Gingrich probably told a lot of "truths" when he was running around on his wife, don't you think? If you look up sociopath you'll see a picture of Gingrich.

spike59| 9.17.12 @ 6:03AM

ah, aware...just keep proving the maxim that whenever Leftards don't have a clue, they ALWAYS resort to ad hominem stupidity and/or race-baiting...

aware| 9.17.12 @ 10:31AM

Well, spike, how can it be "ad hominem" when Gingrich DID cheat? Who's stupid? And I'm way farther Right than you statist neo cons, bub.

You can't even tell which direction the punches come from can you. Looks like you're the one bringing "race" into the string. Neo cons=progressives.

spike59| 9.17.12 @ 12:20PM

Well, spike, how can it be "ad hominem" when Gingrich DID cheat? Who's stupid?
==========================
1-it can, and is, ad hominem stupidity when you use it in lieu of actually addressing the topic under discussion

2-who's stupid? evidently, YOU, you freaking MORON

aware| 9.17.12 @ 3:15PM

If you weren't so stupid you would see Olddingleberry brought up Gingrich and my reply was to HIM. See the little "reply" thing at the bottom?

So far you haven't been right about anything. Piss-ant. You have to be an "advanced conservative studies" graduate.

Since "ad hominem" is an attempt to negate the truth, and Gingrich DID cheat, and I only pointed out this truth, how could it be "ad hominem"? Unless pointing out means "negating" to 2nd graders.

What a dipshit. Neo con dipshit at that.

Oldefarte| 9.17.12 @ 7:50PM

"sociopath"? Nothing like the BLACK JESUS to fit that description. "running around on his wife"? Are you referring to valet Reggie perhaps? "top down solutions"? Are you referring to their trying to PIN THEIR TAIL ON THE DONKEY of blaming a film instead of their assination of UBL for the ME terrorists' assaults and diplomatic murders [and using a UN diplomat as spokesperson instead of HillyBilly]? Talk about UN-"truths" and BS!!!!!!!!!!

SSG Baker| 9.16.12 @ 11:15AM

I only have one comment. While I too agree that many of the Republican leadership need a hard and swift kick to the seat of the pants and be told get to freaking work. There is the point that at least they ran for office, unlike all of us here complaining all the time on the AS board. I would run, but I am a Soldier and prohibited from doing so until I leave the service (at which time I will be 53 anyway and kinda late to start a political career). Stop complaining, and be part of the solution.

aware| 9.16.12 @ 11:54AM

Why on earth would you want to be part of a vast criminal conspiracy that goes by the name of "government"?

Nick| 9.16.12 @ 4:16PM

Let me guess, aware?
You listen to that kook, Alex Jones, huh?

aware| 9.17.12 @ 5:36AM

Never have, local PC Enforcer, but it is obvious you believe in "We the People" being the "government", right? And I bet you also think "conservatism" means "smaller government", too.

Fairy tales are about all you got left. Reality sure ain't going your way.

spike59| 9.17.12 @ 12:21PM

ask your Tinfoil Hat Tinhorn Messiah that one, MORON...

aware| 9.17.12 @ 3:22PM

If they made tin foil hats small enough and pointy enough you'd be a prime candidate for one. You are the one looking for political messiahs, chum.

Oldefarte| 9.17.12 @ 7:57PM

"vast criminal conspiracy" ? You've been playing will Hilly's and Janet's dildos again haven't you? We no long have a "government" as of 11/4/08, but instead a DICTATORSHIP which facilitates is propaganda via the MSM sycophants. A "government" is OF THE PEOPLE, which this one is not, but neither is Cuba's, Egypt's, Libya's, or Iran's so WTF right?????????

Indy| 9.16.12 @ 12:08PM

Thank you for your service. I cannot speak for all but I can assure you many of us who post comments are active at the grassroots level, in my case working on campaigns to elect good people and working on lots of other important tasks, some of us make donations and engage in other ways. I hope you have requested your absentee ballot, are our troops getting ballots?

Mimi | 9.16.12 @ 3:51PM

Some of the aftermath of last weeks heart breaking attack of the libia embassy and the loss of 4 lives...WILL COME OUT...the D's blame of the "vidio" is suspicious and they have a lot to be guilty about....It will be known...if they continue to act like weasels and not spine-up it will one more thing to land them is isolation for generation to come...as a PARTY. Those who have an ounce of integrity should speak out...the True Americans should finally come forward...If they ever get elected in 51 days the country will suffer.

Mike in N.C.| 9.16.12 @ 9:48PM

But, he also admitted that smart people won't support the Values Voters Summit folks. You know that is true, Quin. Because you are a smart person playing the useful fools.

Nick| 9.16.12 @ 11:47PM

That's not what former Senator Santorum was saying, Mikey.
He was sayig that pretentious liberals who think that they are smart (but really aren't) will never support us. People like you, Mikey.
Which is just fine by us.

aware| 9.17.12 @ 5:42AM

Liberal pretentiousness hardly measures up to the neo con version. Nor does the hypocrisy, like Ryan "promising" fiscal responsibility then rushing back to Mordor to vote FOR the CR.

Real confidence builder, huh? No surprise to me.

Oldefarte| 9.17.12 @ 8:01PM

"the neo con version"? Is that the same version professed Sunday by the NYT's Dowd that stepped over the line by inferring that the Jews are in control of your"neo con version"? Not only is it a RIGHT-WINGED CONSPIRACY [as per HillyBilly] by a JEW CONSPIRACY also, right UN-"aware"??????

Mike in N.C.| 9.16.12 @ 9:55PM

I am really angry that contributions to American Spectator are tax deductible. I don't want tax deductions to to MSNBC. And, I want public radio and PBS to be entirely supported by their listeners.

spike59| 9.17.12 @ 6:05AM

sure you do...

JD| 9.17.12 @ 5:42PM

Non-profits are non-profits. Introducing an element of government "content-approval" as a condition for tax-exempt status puts us on the road to a police state.

Oldefarte| 9.17.12 @ 8:03PM

Some of us don't wish to have MSNBC and PBS in existence!!!!!!!

Mike W| 9.17.12 @ 8:39AM

Santorum is a tool and God help us if Romney loses this year and Rick is the nominee in 16. That will give us at four years of Hillary.

spike59| 9.17.12 @ 12:23PM

Hillary is toast; once this 'how's that Arab Spring working out for our dead diplomats' investigation is over, she'll be lucky to get a job at the Post Office

Dimitry_Aleksandrovich| 9.17.12 @ 2:29PM

One minute our government is supporting Islamists to overthrow Ghaddafi, the next minute those same Islamists are burning embassies and killing U.S. ambassadors. Somethings flawed with U.S. reasoning for intervening in the internal disputes of foreign countries. This is a good warning to liberals and neo-cons alike who want American intervention in Syria.

aware| 9.17.12 @ 3:20PM

We support in Syria and Libya the exact same people we are fighting in Afghanistan. Neo cons and progressives have it all figured out. It's all working out, right?

Oldefarte| 9.17.12 @ 8:09PM

No DA, don't include "we" in your BS. Your "we" are the subversives who conquered this nation on 11/4/08, who facilitated the overthrow of Libya and Egypt so that the Muslim Brotherhood could gain control, who turns a political blind eye towards Syria slaughter of it citizens to facilitate it big brother Iran, and who has now effected a Middle East inflamed by the Muslim dogs by the bowing/scraping to Muslim leaders in the ME and the assination of UBL. Don't "STUPIDLY"
include the rest of us in your "we" BS!!!!!!

Dimitry_Aleksandrovich| 9.18.12 @ 12:04AM

BS...I didn't vote for Obama nor do I support the Obama campaign. When I go to the polls in November I will be writing in either Ron Paul or Pat Buchanan as a protest vote to the terrible options that we have been handed on either side of the political spectrum. I never supported the overthrow of Ghaddafi, I most assuredly spoke against it and also predicted that the post Ghaddafi Libya would be a hotbed of Wahhabist/Salafist (Sunni Islamist) militants. Even though I have never been a supporter of Mubarak I spoke against his ousting and I have been pro-Assad since the beginning of the Syrian crisis because Assad has protected Syrian Christians. I know what the hell I'm talking about in regards to the Middle East...do you?
