Yet again, President Obama has snubbed Israeli Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu.
According to the Jerusalem
Post, “The White House has rejected a request by Prime Minister
Binyamin Netanyahu to meet US President Barack Obama in the United
States this month…” with the White House apparently saying that
the meeting just won’t fit into Obama’s schedule.
This is about far more than protocol or wounded feelings.
The Middle East is (or at least seems to be) perilously close to
violent chaos, with our enemies emboldened by Obama’s obvious
dislike for Israel, sympathy for Palestinians and other Islamists,
and general weakness.
His refusal to meet with Netanyahu speaks both to his disdain
for Israel generally and Netanyahu specifically, but also to this
president’s perverse priorities, which lead him to miss a majority
of his national security
briefings despite the world being an increasingly dangerous
place.
Israel is not a ward of the US state, but they are our long-time
very close ally and we have a real strategic interest in their
survival and prosperity. Barack Obama either doesn’t understand or
doesn’t care about any of that. And by his words and (in)actions,
he raises the chances of death and destruction across the
region.
It’s not just Jews who need to abandon Barack Obama en masse. It
is any person who wants to avoid bloody, perhaps nuclear, war in
the Middle East.

With his golfing game, fundraisers, and campaigning, who has time for our only reliable ally in the Middle East? It is not like Israel is surrounded by enemies who want to obliterate it, or that Israel may attack Iran or Iran may attack Isreael , or there may be a war there soon.
Now, if that were the case, and someone explained that to Obama, then he might reschedule a fundraiser or golf game.
Hillary was right about that phone call at 3:AM. Problem is she was also right about a phone call at 3 in the afternoon.

Good for Obama. He is finally standing up to that filthy warmonger Nutanyahu. Any war with Iran is hugely unpopular by polling with about 2/3 to 3/4 of the American public, especially the young and independents. Even most of the crackpots in Israel have abandoned Nutanyahu's crazed agenda. I have predicted this all along and begged Romney to cleanse his foreign policy team of the Neocons and their ideas. They have never been right and they control almost no votes. Obama will get the vast majority of the votes of Jewish Americans. Most of them want nothing to do with another war. Most opposed the Iraq war.
Warrior| 9.11.12 @ 8:10PM
Jack, please take this in the spirit that it is offered from a fellow Ron Paul supporter. STFU! At a time where our embassies are under assault and a state sponsor of terror is close to going nuclear, abandoning our only true ally in the region is beyond moronic. You should stop with your myopic and disjointed view of foreign policy. Believing that total non-intervention will lead to peace has never worked at any time in US history.

Now we are aligned. This is good. Bless you, sir.
I have NO problem with Ron Paul's domestic policies. Nor do I believe in Nation Building. But Nation destroying with NO rebuilding and NO boots on the ground to minimize collateral damage is cheap and useful, and the boys can be back in North Dakota after the flight eating a filet mignon on me...
Occam's Tool| 9.12.12 @ 11:57AM
Actually, I am not in favor of drug legalization. But I do support his views on medicare and abortion.
Paul was always wrong on foreign policy. That was the deal breaker for me.
CJW| 9.11.12 @ 8:58PM
Your friends in Egypt and Lybia attacked our embassies today to commerate 9/11. Obama issued some half assed apology for whatever, blaming us for the attack, as you usually do.
I guess you are voting for Obama, right?
Jack in Wi| 9.11.12 @ 10:53PM
Get the hell out of their countries now and stay out. We are not wanted there. We should cut off all aid to the region starting with Israel and Egypt. We don't need another stinking world war for no sane reason. You were never a Ron Paul supporter. Romney is tanking the election with his perpetual kissing of Nutanyahu's rear end and his stupid Warmongering. The people want out of these wars. There can be no fiscal solution in this country until we get the hell out of all these countries and bring the troops home. We don't need the price of oil to triple in the middle of a 5 year depression, just so Nutanyahu can show how big his nuts are.
Oldefarte| 9.11.12 @ 10:46PM
Netanyahu and the Israelies are only trying to obtain the US's "redline" statement of political support in order to AVOID A WAR WITH IRAN. This POTUS, his Secretary of State and the whole administration are gutless, b*&Lless; and the end result is going to be a war because of same. This lame excuse for a POTUS and his administration are purposely snubbing Israel because of his ill-disguised Muslim sympathies/support. If Mohammed Atta's uncle was PM of Israel, it would make a GD difference to him. He wants the Muslim Brotherhood takeover in the middle east and that is where it's headed. Meanwhile the US under this idiot is giving the Brothers $trillions of your taxpayer-funded foreign aid, forgiving loans to them and funding military jet purchases from Germany. Oh course you probably support the Brothers also, so what the hell, right??????
Mike G| 9.11.12 @ 4:12PM
Well, yeah...I mean, three in the afternoon is prime golfing time, right? You make your campaign stops in the morning, have a little lunch, and then it's off to the links. That makes for a full day! Who has time to actually EARN a peace prize?

This announced just as press is reporting the arrest in a border town in Mexico of three Hezbollah operatives, one apparently an American citizen. No doubt, if confirmed, they will just be trying to enter to get those landscaping jobs Americans won't do. This is why illegal migration is such a critical issue.

Good for Obama. I'm sick and tired of the Likudniks trying to drag this country into another war. The people in Israel don't want a war, the American people don't want a war. Only the crazies want a war. Barry Hussein should tell Netanyahu to drop dead.
Ross Kaminsky| 9.11.12 @ 7:00PM
William,
Your response is insane.
The most likely path to war is to make Iran think that Israel cannot defend itself, which in turn will make Israel correctly expect Iran to speed up its nuclear weapon program, which in turn will require Israel to attack, and even this Israel-hating president will be forced to support Israel.
It doesn't matter what you think of Israel. Refusing a MEETING is truly stupid. And what's more interesting is that it's truly stupid in terms of Obama's own domestic politics.
I would like to see Obama tell Netanyahu to drop dead, especially without the Secret Service or any witnesses around. Obama would come out of that encounter chastened, to put it kindly.
William R| 9.11.12 @ 7:10PM
Dream on!!! Israel has 200+ nukes. More than enough to deter any attack.

There's more to the story than what Kaminsky is saying.
http://rt.com/usa/news/netanya.....-iran-918/
Apparently Netanyahu wants the U.S. to draw a red line in the sand to Iran or give Israel a green light for its own unilateral action.
I say Netanyahu is right to say that the United States cannot give Israel a "red light" while refusing to draw a line in the sand for Iran. My own take on it is that we shouldn't be dictating to Israel when or where or if it will strike Iran or any other nation and by the same time Israel through AIPAC should not be dictating US foreign policy in the Middle East. Israel is not an official ally of the United States and its not the 51st state either. So Netanyahu is right on the one hand that we cannot tell Israel what to do but what we should do is tell Israel what we won't do and that's fight a war in Syria or Iran for Israel. If Israel attacks Iran then Israel will have to fight that conflict on their own with no U.S. help.
Cobalt| 9.11.12 @ 10:19PM
Netanyaha is not crying wolf. Israel faces an existential threat from Iran.
Iran wants to achieve regional hegemony in the Middle East. Someday, Iran might even be able to hit parts of Europe with its missiles.
Since Israel and Netanyahu don't have the luxury of trusting Obama, I hope they go ahead and strike Iran, before November 6th.

Iran has no nuclear weapoons and isn't bulding any. Israel has 500 and is perpetually using nuclear blackmail against the whole world. Iran is a backward country that hasn't attacked anyone in 300 years. It is time to do with Iran what we did with China. Send an ambassador, end immoral sanctions. open diplomatic, trade, and cultural relations and bring Iran along as a friend as it used to be. The Iranians have been offering this for almost a decade. Our overlords inTel Aviv refuse us the permission to do so. The world would be a far better place if we just told Israel to go to hell and concentrated on the good old USA and it's problems.
c. j. acworth| 9.12.12 @ 9:04AM
I'm sorry, Jack, but on this subject you are truely a fool. " Israel perpetually using nuclear blackmail against the whole world"? Could you kindly provide a link to back that up?
spike59| 9.12.12 @ 6:01AM
once again, you've proved yourself to be a useful idiot...the blood of countless Americans is on the hands of the Iranian regime (these are the people who trained and armed the insurgents in Iraq who killed American service members, along with Iraqi military and civilians, not to mention their history of training and supporting terrorist groups who have attacked our embassies and allies), and threatens the nation of Israel with annihilation every chance they get...should Israel do the right thing in self-defense and take military action against these psychopaths, the world will be just a little bit safer:

Israel gets this treatment by Obama because it's an ally of the US, which he is not.
Mike in N.C.| 9.12.12 @ 10:16AM
The welfare and the interest of the United States of America is primary for me. It takes precedence over those of every other country on earth. Netanyahu is trying to waltz us into another war in the middle east because he has a touch of existential angst. His supporters, who seem to care more about Israel than their own country, are solidly behind him. I'm tired of the myth that America's interest and Israel's interest exactly coincide. I long for the time when both parties agreed that foreign policy differences ended at our shores. Gut check time: which country is most important to you?
Occam's Tool| 9.12.12 @ 12:01PM
The US is, Mike. By all means, trust a country that took our embassy in 1979 and has helped kill hundreds of Americans since for reasons that have nothing to do with Israel that they are not lying.
You sir, endanger our country more than Netanyahu, and love our country considerbly less than he does, fool.
Screw that dual loyalty crap.

Mike: Sorry. "Considerably." Otherwise, you are still a worthless punk.
RCV| 9.12.12 @ 12:20PM
The real story here is the damage Netanyahu is doing to Israel by trying to pick public fights with the US.
As the Jerusalme Post reports this morning, even Israelis are up in arms over Netanyahu's actions:
"Opposition leader Shaul Mofaz (Kadima) blamed Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu for what he called the deteriorating relationship between the US and Israel, in a special meeting during the Knesset’s summer recess on Wednesday.
'Mr. Prime Minister, tell me, who is our biggest enemy, the US or Iran? Who do you want replaced, [Iranian President Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad or [US President Barack] Obama?” Mofaz asked in the plenum. 'How low are you prepared to drag relations with our closest ally?' "
