Clint Eastwood’s speech was, well, unique.

Eastwood was more Jimmy Stewart than Harry Callahan. He did a bit with an empty chair next to him and Eastwood was talking to it as if it were President Obama. Now that I think about it, Obama does bear some resemblance to a six foot rabbit.

Well, it didn’t matter. Eastwood had some funny moments as when he referred to Joe Biden as “the intellect of the Democratic Party.” He also drew laughs when he said he “never thought it was a good idea for attorneys to be President.”

The Convention crowd chanted, “Let them go!!! Let them go!!!” after he said, “When somebody does not do the job, you’ve got to let them go.”

I think this makes up for the Super Bowl ad although I never believed for a moment he supported President Obama or that his particpation in the ad was an endorsement of the President.

Well, tonight removed all doubt as to where Josey Wales stands.

Clint Eastwood did well tonight. He is 82 years old.

The empty chair was appropriate, since Obama is an empty suit.

Kitty | 8.31.12 @ 7:05AM

And when Eastwood talked to little Barry he looked down and slightly behind himself, which I took to mean that he was putting BO in his place.

Kingofthenet| 8.30.12 @ 11:34PM

He seemed deranged to me like someone talking to their dog or beer, just as a rebuttal IF I was the President, I would have HALF of Hollywood out on stage to make MY point.

Trinacria| 8.31.12 @ 3:27AM

Yes, quite; because one's suitability for office should be predicated on the number of people who play dress up and make-believe for a living one can corral on a stage...

spike59| 8.31.12 @ 5:47AM

he wanted to talk to a dog...but, unfortunately, ObaMao ate it

Tom Kyba| 8.31.12 @ 1:06PM

"If I was the president". C'mon sonny, admit it. You're 15 years old aren't you?

Oldefarte| 8.31.12 @ 5:12PM

Your "HALF of Hollywood" would no doubt include such dimwit-morons as Joy Bahar, Samuel Jackson, Charlie Sheen, and Spike Lee maybe [what lo-lifes]????????

Kingofthenet| 8.30.12 @ 11:44PM

Go Head....What's MY Name?

Bob Grant| 8.30.12 @ 11:49PM

I'd say you're more court jester than king. As for your name, don't know, don't care.

Oldefarte| 8.31.12 @ 5:14PM

Nah, hes bees the KINGFISH....... "Ah Andy, ah Andy, I wouldn't lies to ya"!!!!!!!!

MyGirlFriday| 8.31.12 @ 12:00AM

King of No Where, Nothing, Nada. You don't get it stupid, we don't have kings in the U.S of A. Get your dead ars back to an Obama site where they worship government kings. Your a looser.

Kingofthenet| 8.31.12 @ 1:02AM

You aren't ALL used up on Friday are you girl?

spike59| 8.31.12 @ 5:50AM

Queenofthenuts, of course...why do you ask?

Tom Kyba| 8.31.12 @ 1:06PM

It's kingofmyowngroin.

Kingofthenet| 8.31.12 @ 12:56AM

Why can't we talk about Willard's CULT than SHUNS people who aren't members, does your Church do that?

MyGirlFriday| 8.31.12 @ 1:03AM

You are an absolute filthy lier. You know nothing about the "Church." Bite your tongue!

Trinacria| 8.31.12 @ 3:34AM

Well, sport, as long as he keeps the government's hands out of my wallet, I should like to think I'd care rather little about who his church shuns. Matter of fact, as long as he keeps the government's hand out of my wallet, I don't care who his administration shuns...
Matter of fact (II), perhaps what we need in this country is a little good ole fashioned shunnin'

Oldefarte| 8.31.12 @ 5:15PM

Now come on Andy Brown!!!!!!!!

Kingofthenet| 8.31.12 @ 1:21AM

Why won't the Mormon Religion let my Dad see his daughter get 'sealed' (We call it Married) in the Mormon Temple?

Trinacria| 8.31.12 @ 3:37AM

I dunno, sport; you tell me. Perhaps your dad is an asshole (afterall, you've presented us with an abundance of evidence to suggest a genetic predisposition).

Crassus| 8.31.12 @ 8:42AM

Maybe because your dad was convicted of abusing his daughter. That would be a valid reason.

Tom Kyba| 8.31.12 @ 1:08PM

Why don't you go squeeze some of the 500 pimples decorating your face instead of trying to annoy people like a little brat making poopoo jokes?

Oldefarte| 8.31.12 @ 5:16PM

Probably cause she was trying to marry another female maybe???????

Dimitry_Aleksandrovich| 8.31.12 @ 2:00AM

The Super Bowl ad was a hell of a lot better than this speech. Obama and Romney are the flip side of the same coin.

Skippy| 8.31.12 @ 2:12PM

"Thanks for that!"
BHO

Kingofthenet| 8.31.12 @ 2:00AM

If Mitt doesn't make it what cultist is next Jim Jones Jr.?

spike59| 8.31.12 @ 5:49AM

we've already got a cult leader in the WH; time to get an actual President

Albert Constantine Jr.| 8.31.12 @ 11:51AM

Jim Jones was a leftist liberal Democrat, as were his followers and Kool-aid drinkers.

Tom Kyba| 8.31.12 @ 1:11PM

Blah blah blah cult this cult that. Our resident juvenile thumb-sucker has learned a new word today. One free piece of candy for the little one.

Oldefarte| 8.31.12 @ 5:18PM

Well for the Democrats, that "cultist" would be ya boy and his twenty year attendance at Rev Leroy's CHURCH OF THE HERE AND NOW [GD America, right?]!!!!!!!!!!!

Bob Grant| 8.31.12 @ 7:27PM

Did you NOT see obama's speech at Grant Park on election night?

Did you see the look in their eyes?

Was it no different than those grainy vids when Kim I'l (fill in the blank) addressed his legion in North Korea?

The CourtJester strikes again.

Oldefarte| 9.1.12 @ 2:29PM

You mean VAN JONES no doubt!!!!!

Robert Spencer | 8.31.12 @ 2:08AM

Thank goodness! Someone else got what Clint was doing! It was obvious to me that he was doing a Jimmy-Stewart-and-Harvey bit the minute I saw that empty chair.

If there was any doubt of this, it disappeared the minute he was done with the bit, and began talking cogently and without hesitation.

RJ| 8.31.12 @ 2:14AM

I thought Clint's routine was more a copy of Bob Newhart than Jimmy Stewart. He had some good lines, but he also appeared lost and rambling at times. It was unique for a political convention. It looked like a humorous way to criticize Obama and fed into the Ryan line that Obama had his chance and is now yesterday's wind.

Rubio gave his classic good speech and Romney did fine. Of course, this race isn't going to be decided by who gives the best speech.

Kitty | 8.31.12 @ 7:08AM

I, too, was reminded of Newhart's phone routines! Yes, Eastwood looked and sounded his 82 years, but I thought he was very funny. I loved it!

Pecos Pete| 8.31.12 @ 8:46AM

Just watched Clint on YouTube. Funny! I thought he did a good job in illustrating the absolute stupidity of King O and the democrat party.

rightasrain| 8.31.12 @ 8:59AM

Thank God the crowd was with him because I kept feeling that Clint was one second from disaster. I kept holding my breath but just when he seemed like he was going off the cliff, he said something hilarious.

Marco2| 8.31.12 @ 10:07AM

ButterflyNet, clearly thy name is Asshat!

Derek Leaberry| 8.31.12 @ 12:13PM

Most Americans who hold Clint Eastwood in high regard are already voting for Romney and are probably Republican in voting habits. But it does reek of hypocrisy when the party that is anti-abortion and claims to support family values has as one of its Convention spokesmen an actor who believes in serial marriage and who has pushed one mistress to abort the children they created.

soljerblue| 8.31.12 @ 3:56PM

does it equate to the Hollywood elites believing that Roman Polanski didn't commit "rape-rape"?
(quoting Dippy -- I mean Whoopi -- Goldberg)

soljerblue| 8.31.12 @ 3:54PM

"Well, tonight removed all doubt as to where Josey Wales stands."

I think he's suggesting we give Obama a Missouri boat ride.

RCV| 8.31.12 @ 4:49PM

I think Scott Walker put it succinctly when he said he "cringed" at Eastwood's performance.

Oldefarte| 8.31.12 @ 5:20PM

I'd hate to think what he'd do after Richard Trumpka's performance within his state, right?????

Occam's Tool| 8.31.12 @ 7:56PM

Well, I think Obama is one unlucky "punk."

Abrahams| 9.1.12 @ 10:38AM

I'm looking forward to seeing more of the Clint Eastwood ads between now and election day. Wouldn't that be something?! Now that we know where he stands it would truly be a guiding light.

Oldefarte| 9.1.12 @ 2:33PM

Nah, instead of Jimmy Stewert, I'd suggest Stan Loral of Oliver & Hardy. He looks, acts and talks like Oliver; and if there is ever a movie made about same, Eastwood would/should be a natural to cast in that part!!!!
