While Republicans are pushing Rep. Todd Akin to drop out of his senate race because of something he said, Democrats in Minnesota are dealing with a much more unsavory problem.

State Representative Kerry Gauthier has admitted having oral sex with a 17-year old boy behind a highway rest stop after posting a Craigslist ad seeking “no strings attached” sex. Democrats are asking Gauthier to drop out of the upcoming election; Republicans are calling for him to resign his seat immediately.

I saw that on Fox early today, but still no coverage at all on CNN. CNN is, however, running editorials claiming that Akin's comment represents the hidden feelings of most Republicans.

No strings attached for rest-stop hummers?

Hmm, I wonder if he low-balled (no pun intended) his congressional votes like that as well.

Scumbags. the entire lot of them.

Correction: I meant his state legislature votes.

Democrats are asking a Democrat to drop out? Democrats?? I don't believe it! Sorry, Mr. Kaminsky, normally I find your statements very credible. But I've got to get another source of verification on this one.

On CNN's blogs, liberals are responding to those complaining that CNN has not written an article on this story yet by saying "the boy was above the age of consent in Minnesota and Gauthier isn't married, so there's no story."

Impressive! Now about that scandalous skinny-dipping...

In other news, Kevin Jennings has announced his endorsement of Kerry Gauthier.

It happens. In 2010, millionaire pawn shop owner Scott Lee Cohen wangled the Democrat nomination for Lieutenant Governor with a self-funded ad blitz (the party organization didn't take him seriously).

Then someone looked into his recent divorce, and found a whole lot of nasty stuff. He bowed out under pressure.

After the primary, people looked into his recent divorce, and found lots of nasty stuff. Cohen bowed out under pressure.

Just last Friday, the Illinois House of Representatives voted 100-6 to expel Rep. Derrick Smith (D-Chicago), under Federal indictment for bribery off an FBI sting. The House is 63-54 Democrat. The vote was D 49-6, R 51-0.

Mike,

Normally this event would be a resume-enhancement for Democrats!

It's time we shut up about this whole business and stopped trying to think that anything else we say about it will make matters better.

Akin is an ill-informed moron. If he can't be removed, he should be ignored, with no attempt to defend him or cause his name to appear on any national journalism outlet.

Occam's Tool| 8.22.12 @ 11:18AM

I think Akin will win. Oh dear. 6 years of pro-Israel, pro-strong defense, pro-tax cuts, pro-lige, anti-ObamaCare votes. Such a shame.

I think we overreacted on this one.

Why the silence from the cult of troll?
