Mark Levin has ripped Democrats over Akin.

Citing the accusations of rape against Bill Clinton by campaign worker Juanita Broaddrick, along with the accusations of being groped in the Oval Office made by Kathleen Willey, and adding in Ted Kennedy’s behavior at Chappaquiddick, Levin ripped into the idea that Democrats have some sort of high-flying position that enables them to criticize Akin. Pointing to the relentless defense of Clinton’s behavior made by liberals, Levin noted: “We don’t need any lectures from you on women’s rights.”

That said, Levin zeroed in on the core problem. We must win the Senate, we must defeat McCaskill, Levin said in his usual shy and retiring fashion. It’s a “mistake” for Akin to stay in this race.

“If I had my druthers he would get out,” he said.

But Levin left no doubt of the focus for conservatives in Missouri and elsewhere whatever Akin does: the Senate is the goal, the White House is the goal.

And those goals remain whatever happens to Todd Akin.

I have an immense respect for Mr. Levin; however, the moral authority of Democrats to criticize Mr. Akin's statements is hardly the issue here. It serves little purpose to preface one's condemnation of Mr. Akin's incredibly stupid remarks by pointing out the hypocrisy of those on the left who are likewise passing judgment.

We all know that no one does feigned moral outrage like the left; I fear our outrage appears less genuine when preceded by an attempt to point the finger in any direction other than at the perpetrator.

Akin is toast, and with him, the chances of the GOP capturing the Senate.

I'm of the opinion that Akin could be defended/eliminated, and thereafter replaced by one of the two other Republican candidates within Missouri's primary who previously lost. both of these candidates [and Akin also] polled higher in that state then did McCaskill, so either of them should become a replacement for Akin and thereafter be able to defeat her in the general election!!!!!!

I've seen several posts about this, and apparently according to Missouri statutes (a) Akin needed to get out before the end of Monday, and (b) none of the Primary challengers are valid even as write-in candidates. So we're stuck watching this pinhead go down in flames over the next 2-1/2 months. The real danger is since he's stupid enough to stay in, anything else he says will hang like a stone around all the Republicans' necks. The lapdog media will harp on it incessantly...

The root of the problem is not Democrat hypocrisy (look up the word in the dictionary and you'll likely see a picture of Ted Kennedy next to it), but the stupidity of the Karl Rove crowd in backing this numbskull Akin. Next time the RNC calls my house begging for money, I think I'll just fire off a Starter's Pistol next to the phone.
