We don’t fully know the shooters’ motivations yet — although we have a pretty good guess — but the tragic act of violence at the pro-life, pro-marriage Family Research Council today again reminded me of the civility divide on social issues like marriage.
Thankfully, violence of this nature is rare and isolated, but the rhetorical violence from the Left on social issues is disturbing. As someone who recently covered the debate over a state-level marriage amendment in North Carolina, I can say unequivocally that foes of the amendment (and supporters of same-sex “marriage”) rarely engaged in civil discourse and almost always punctuated their arguments with four letter word and scalding personal attacks. Supporters of the amendment, on the other hand, were almost always civil and reasonable in their arguments.
The Left believes that vicious, hateful language is justified given the righteouness of their cause. Their abusive rhetoric raises the question: Which side is truly practicing love and tolerance in this debate?

You can't have 'Love and Tolerance' when your position is Bigotry, I am sure some Slave owners expressed their believes with 'Love and Tolerance' but they don't deserve, nor should they get ANY respect.

Sure you can, sport. By way of example, the left loves and tolerates all who support their position, but they are utter bigots when it comes to those with whom they disagree. Indeed, one might even say that they love and tolerate bigotry, provided that one's bigotry is directed towards the "right" folks.
By the way, I must have missed the memo...who here claimed that slave owners deserve respect? You get a volume discount on your straw purchases there King?

The hateful bigots, who rage against the family, marriage and Christianity, currently have the upper hand within the GLBT mob. The deluded crank who shot up the Family Research Council certainly was an avid consumer of this incendiary rhetoric. Shame!

We don't know this yet. I do know from vdare that the shooter is black. And race may have played a part. It doesn't take too much to get a black enraged.

A law enforcement official has identified the suspect arrested in Wednesday's shooting as Floyd Corkins II of Herndon, Va........David Mariner is executive director of The DC Center for the LGBT Community. He says Corkins had been volunteering at the center for about the past 6 months. Mariner describes Corkins as "kind, gentle and unassuming."

He was shouting against the views of FRC. Ten to 1 this guy is a whack job influenced by the totalitarian rhetoric of the extremists within the LGBT activist fever swamps. Most blacks have no time time for LGBT, so I'm willing to bet that this "light skinned" black owes his demented nature to his self hating white heritage.
