When introducing his running mate a moment ago, Mitt Romney just called Paul Ryan “the next president of the United States”. Perhaps he meant the next after Romney…I hope!

Romney came back and said “Every now and then I make a mistake…but I did not make a mistake with this guy! But I can tell you this: he’s gonna be the next Vice-President of the United States.” Not surprisingly, the crowd laughed and cheered.

The problems facing our country trumps any gaffs that may leave his mouth.

Nothing to see here. Move on.

It's now All Hands on Deck in defeating Barack - Mr. 57 States - Obama.

A good choice.

Actually, a great choice!

He really is an excellent choice by any measure. He's smart, articulate and focused on the issues the GOP should focus on, instead of the right wing social agenda. (Ryan broke from the GOP to support a gay-rights employment protection bill, explaining that his friends who are gay "didn't wake up one morning and just decide to be gay.")

As a Democrat, I think Ryan's choice will spotlight the sharp differences in economic approaches by the two sides, which is a very good thing. In November, I believe we'll see a decisive rejection of the Romney-Ryan approach by the American people. But I applaud Romney for making this bold choice, instead of going with a safe, boring Portman or Pawlenty.

Good post , RCV, though I disagree with your electoral prediction.

Thanks. I think the Ryan choice will increase the enthusiasm in the GOP base, which is obviously a necessary and good thing for Romney. But the obvious political risks are that the perception of Ryan among women and elderly voters, largely because of their take on his social security plans (justified or not), is negative. In some key states, such as Florida and Ohio, the choice may hurt Romney's chances, even if it helps in Wisconsin. But time will tell, and as an American voter, I'm glad to see some intellectual and integrity weight added to the contest. It's a good thing for all.

I caught the tongue-slip live but thought maybe an audio blip in transmission caused same. Love it when the Mittster maned-up instantly and corrected his mistake. It has been said that TO ERR IS HUMAN, BUT TO FORGIVE IS DEVINE, and all rational humans will easily do thus!!!!!!!!

Hey, RCV, at least the issues are clearly defined. While I do enjoy going for the low kick, (I wish we had the Obama /Khalifi tapes) perhaps the Obama campaign will finally start outlining a budget and a plan to get us out of this mess, instead of the budgets they submit that NOBODY votes for (I mean, when you can't float a Liberal Budget past, say Bernie Sanders, that's a problem).

As for mer, I see NO enthusiasm out here in MN, where 4 years ago there was a groundswell. The bloom is off the rose, and the thorns are red with our blood. People are tired of suffering under Barack "vacation a minute" Obama.

Sorr, "me" not "mer."
